Question for Jeremey:

Postby ScarabGator » Thu Aug 09, 2007 8:34 am

Jeremey, before everyone starts throwing out their anti-Augeri flames why dont you ever include any of those Journey era songs in your show? Higher Place, Faith in the Heartland, or All the Way or any other song ala Steve Augeri?

Jeremey's a little busy tonight, so I'll help you out.

I think the band has simply made a committment to play the Perry era stuff only, mostly because anything off of Arrival and Gens would be met with blank stares, much like a real Journey show. Plus Jeremey is basically a Loon.

I see he's also included "Missing You", which most fans probably wouldn't recognize much more than anything off "Arrival", for instance.

Have they? They also play Oh Sherrie, so it probably has just as much or more to do with the fact that the band loves Perry. Ask J to name an Augeri era song and you will get another blank stare. :?

Thats all Im asking. I guarantee Jeremey knows the Arrival/Generations stuff. It may be met with blank stares but the true Journey fans who has to make up the majority of his audience will know them. Jeremey???

The main reason Frontiers doesn't do anything from the Augeri years is because they are focused on the Perry years of Journey as well as the fact that when they started performing, Journey was actively touring with Augeri. It would have been a little strange, to say the least for them to have been doing a "tribute" to a band that was still in existance(sp).

Yeah, there are several Bon Jovi Tributes out there, but I don't know if they play any of the more current stuff or if they stay focused in the 80's. I asked Jeremey about this when I first met him and that is what he told me.

Some in the guys in Frontiers like the Augeri material - but it is just not Jeremey's thing. It's nothing more than that.

It seems to me that Jeremey is renowned for his Perryesque vocal ability. Therefore he tends to stick with the Perry-era stuff, as well as some of his solo stuff. I have enjoyed some of Jeremey's non-Perry music, but as a 'loon' I love the SP performances.

First of all: Hi

Second: I would like to hear a 'Remember Me' (with that kewl solo) too. I always wondered why Journey never performed this song with Steve Augeri. 'Higher Place' would also be nice. The old Perry-tunes are of course classic, but I reckon the newer ones I mentioned classics too...

Btw, Jeremy sounds really great!

I can understand that about the 80's era stuff but it would be great to hear him lead into a little "And I try, I try to reason why, dont ya know I cant go on this way, baby please dont walk away..there is this place, where I tossed away my pride...." right after Whos Crying Now or Stay Awhile.

A lot of depends on if you are a cover band or a tribute band. Usually a tribute band will play the older stuff or the stuff that is more known, a cover band would most likely play stuff from every era, and maybe even the new stuff if there was something popular. Usually too, they play stuff that is more known.

I gave Jeremey a copy of Red 13 myself I asked him if he thought he was going to be doing any of it and he said he didn't get any request for the later Journey stuff. I can respect that. He is performing for the fans and he gives them what they want to hear. He does do stuff from Journey that even Journey doesn't do anymore. The old stuff we true fans know and miss.
