Randy Rhoads
Neal Schon (pre 2001)
Joe Satrianni
Eric Clapton
Nuno Bettencourt

Not who I think the general public would say, but those that I enjoy listening to the most.

PS Nuno and Perry BETTER be making music together...with Perry on vocals.

how can you go wrong with these lists,, sometimes though,, i like to go AGAINTS the GRAIN..

1-neal schon- why im here
2-scotty moore.. how did he come up with all those riffs ? elvis .. wow
3-jimmy page/jeff beck- invented 60's-70's guitar..studio cats.. amazing..
4-ace frehley/angus young (1975)- untouchable for heavy sounding blues! Let Me Go Rcok n Roll..(alive version) best bunch of blues licks ever put in a rock n roll anthem tune... the cat that plays for Lenny Kravitz plays all these cool licks.. angus young?.. The Jack= brillitant guitar, may not be technical.. but perfect..he is a very technical player...
5. stevie ray/gary moore- brought back blues .. cant teach the feel ,,,..
6. freddie king- invented my blues
7. jimi hendrix-overrated as a guitar player, UNDERRATED as a song writer,, there i said it..3 albums that invented rock n roll..

1. Brian May
2. Jimmy Page
3. Mark Knopfler (I never tire of listening to his work on "Sultans of Swing".
4. SRV
5. Neal Schon

I don't know if they would all make it on Rolling Stone's list, but these are my five favorites. I can only do this type of thing as a music fan, but I love seeing a musician's list of favorites and getting the perspective on their choices.

I have an African gray who has a bigger vocabulary than some people I know. He coughs, sneezes, imitates a cat and drives our golden retriever crazy. He knows a few choice words, so sometimes we have to cover him up in a back bedroom when we have guests. Lots of fun, though. I like 'keets - always had them when I was growing up.

1. Luke (way UNDERRATED)
2. Neal Schon (was better back when he had the "fire" in his belly and SP on vocals)
3. Ritchie Blackmore (listen to Machine Head and tell me he is not freakin' great)
4. Tom Scholz (I used to be a Boston FREAK...loved his tone / melodic playing so much)
5. Hendrix / Van Halen (the first time I heard Purple Haze and Eruption...I nearly fell out of my chair!)

There are probably many better players out there but, these 5 certainly were MAJOR influences in my playing / musical advancement.
