Asia cancels tour!

This is a HUGE bummer!

British group Asia was forced to postpone its tour this week after finding out that singer John Wetton has been diagnosed with advanced heart disease. Wetton will either have to take medication or undergo open heart surgery, but he's expected to make a full recovery, according to a release. The reunited band's North American tour will be rescheduled for early 2008.

Wetton discovered that he had heart disease after doing a comprehensive medical examination.

Not a low blow, just my opinion. If someone cant perform,due to medical reasons, cancel the fucking tour. Asia did the right thing. I respect that band

Not surprised about Wetton's health problems. He's been really overweight for a long time now. A couple of years ago he showed up for a convention in his honor in Pennsylvania and was sloshed. He managed only 2 songs of a planned acoustic set, and his voice was awful later that night in the electric set w/Geoff Downes. I have video evidence of it that is laughable.

Of course I did drink at the hotel bar with him afterwards though.

He's seemingly got himself back on track recently and he sounded great at the Asia show I saw him at a few weeks ago. Sounds like this health scare is very correctable from the press release, hopefully all goes well.
