Who is Ross JORSTENDER??

Postby *Laura » Sat Aug 11, 2007 6:10 am

Stumbled on this interview with Schon which I've never read before and was surprised by this name.
I'm confused.I'm not familiar with all the details of the pre-Perry era Journey...

:? Really now...Did I get this wrong or Jorstender is ...Valory?
Just like Friga is Cain's real name?

Anyone knows who's Schon talking about?

"Soon after that I got approached by Herbie Herbert, (he did Carlos' and my guitar rigs and mixed us live) about doing a band around me as a guitar player. So I said "Well that sounds cool, let's go!" Herbie introduced me to Ross Jorstender and then at that time I had seen Prairie Prince play drums with The Tubes, and I thought he would be perfect, and he was. He came in and played with the three of us and it just sounded magical."

I don't think so, Ross was born Ross Lamont Valory. After Fred Sanfords son. :D

Ok.So that means there was another Ross in the initial band that Herbie put together? Schon says that this Jorstender guy "came in and played with the three of us" (him,Herbie and Prairie).

So who was this Ross? :?:

I don't know, I've searched for him and turn up zip. There's nothing about that guy on the internet that I can find. Interesting huh?

Ross "and George Tickner" maybe? They got Greg D'Errico's name wrong (Guy Gurico) so it's probably just a bad transcription.

Jorstender was a Swedish agent who originally looked after Abba...he saw potential in Journey but when he saw Schon's hair, he booked the next flight home. He's still recovering in the psychiatric wing of Bornybenie psychiatric hospital in Stockholm.

Come on, that is soooo common knowledge

Funny...You think it was a phone interview and that's what the author heard when Schon said "George Tickner"?

Bad connection or Neal mumbling Tickner's name?

I think it's some kind of major typo. I've seen that EXACT Neal quote in a couple other places and it's always "Ross Valory".

Could be. The guy typing the copy was probably thinking about a girl he had over the night before and transposed her name into the story. :D
