You always start the same exact threads here that you do at the links word for word. Do you like copy and paste?
No one feels sorry for someone who is a multi millionaire, has a great family and is going to make even more money this fall playing Eddie and Dave's music in The Mad Anthony Express and Eddie and Sammy's music in The Other Half. He has a vacation home in Arizona,a bunch of hot rods that he collects and a mansion in the Hollywood hills.

Mike is one of the all-time great guys in this cutthroat music industry. Truth be told, he is probably much happier playing with Sammy.

The band had already been together (and producing original tunes) for the better part of a decade before they had a publishing deal -- plenty of time to work out how things were going to divvy up creatively. There's no way that EVH had a notion that suddenly it was going to change once they started making albums. Splitting up the credit they way they did was was choice as magnanimous as it was honest. Quite rare in the music business. EVH was the driving creative force but didn't want to be an asshole about it? Absolutely. At the time.vhroth wrote:Eddie wrote ALL the music, Dave wrote ALL the lyrics. IMO Alex doesn't even deserve any writting credits either.
When we're talking about a rock band, we're talking about "writing music" in the loosest possible sense. I don't buy for a second that EVH wrote out all the parts, or dictated everything that he didn't play himself in minute detail. The band has historically been portrayed as a much looser, jam-based ensemble than that.
vhroth wrote:MA has plenty to do this fall. He will be on tour with his own band The Mad Anthony Express playing Eddie and Dave's music since he can't write his own music and release his own CD. Also he will be playing in The Other Half with Hagar playing Eddie and Hagar's music so he's going to make a small fortune this fall.
It wouldn't surprise me if MA wrote a tell all book about VH since he already betrayed the band. MA wasn't fired from VH,he went out and started 2 new bands playing VH music so VH found another bass player. MA seems like a nice down to earth guy but I think he took Eddie for granted.

Yah that's what I would tell you - especially those godawful screechy 'harmonies'.....X factor wrote: You're gonna tell me that his presence, playing, and ESPECIALLY his harmonies didn't play a huge part in the Van Halen sound?

Some of his screeches sound ridiculous live.
