Van Hagar vs. Van Roth....

Postby Moose » Sun Aug 19, 2007 10:41 am

I had every intention of purchasing these tix, but I came to the conclusion that I saw my reunion in '04. Sammy is the man!

To me, I can't get that canned hair look that Dave had, with the purple spandex....in that Sam and Dave tour. Pathetic!

Plus, Ed replaces Mikey with that 300+ lb. son of his? Give me a fucking break!

Fuck that!

Dave is a good showman, but can't hold Sammy's sack as far as voice goes.

I'll have to hear Wolfgang before I can say anything about him. I don't know how Valerie is letting her 16 year old son go on tour with those fuckers. I'll lay a bet that he's had a stint in rehab before he's 20, and that's a bet I hope I lose. I sure would like to see Anthony back in the band. He added a lot to the vocals.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I like both frontman and happily purchased my tickets today for Greensboro, NC. If Sammy tours close by, I'll probably buy tickets for that concert as well.

Dig that Rick!

I am certain that if Wolfie has any sense, it comes from his mother. She seems to be the only thing that kept Ed from self distructing. Certainly not his band mates. So why would she let Wolf tour at that age? The whole thing bothers me. If Wolf makes it, it is in spite of his old man, and he will have learned from his old man's mistakes. I am rooting for him, but for fuck's sake.....this is not the VAN HALEN that the promoters are trying to sell to the public!

Most people think it's about Wolfie's fat ass....it's NOT!

His size 48 waist is just an easy target.

The problem here is that people need to quantify their frustration in the fact that Michael Anthony is no longer a part of this thing...and that Eddie, given the choice, would erase MA's existence from the map, if he could. That's where the anti-wolf thing comes into play....you could almost forgive the nepotism, knowing full well there's a long line of amazing bassists that could do the job....but the fact of the matter is that Wolfie is replacing not only an integral part of the band, but the most LOYAL part of the band.....just because eddie is an egotistical fuckwad.

Granted, I've still got my tix...and I will see this dog and pony, against my better judgement. But I will not be hesitant to voice my opinion, if the fat kid doesn't completely deliver the goods on command!!!

Everyone who is so pro-Hagar has never seen Dave with Ed before. I'm old enough to have...Sammy is the man, but Dave is THE MAN.

I saw enough on the '82, '83, and '84 boots and the Sam and Dave tour to know that he can't sing a whole song.

Sammy can't sing the Dave VH very good either. He even admitted in 04 that those songs were to low for him to sing.

I'll have to take your word for it. I'm the only person in the world that's still on dial up so I can't watch the vids unless I want to sit here for 6 hours waiting for it to d/l.

I wouldn't say all that. Look at all the people who have been waiting since '85 to see EVH and Roth together again...THAT'S what the ticket sales say. Not how Dave sounds.

The only band I know that had to tune UP to standard tuning to get the singer feeling comfortable.
I still like the Sammy version of Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love better than the original. There aren't many songs I can say that about.

Did you NOT read my FULL statement?? I'm not bashing VH. I said that I liked Sammy's version of that song better and that THERE ARE NOT MANY SONGS I CAN SAY THAT ABOUT. Simple as that. Did I say that "I love all songs that Roth did originally better when Sammy sings them"? NO.

Sorry, to stick to the topic, vocally I prefer SH, have been into him since Three Lock Box, but I would go see them with DLR if they would come through Texas. He's quite the showman, that Dave.

The only way I think I'd go is if I get a free ticket. Not that I don't wanna see Diamond with VH again...it's just more of the Mikey situation. Those harmonies of his and that bass playing made the band complete. I honestly don't care how good Wolfie is...I can almost PROMISE that he won't have the same style OR voice. IMO anyway.
