2007 TOUR (WISH) SET LIST

Postby dabstudio » Tue Aug 14, 2007 11:12 am

So according to Eddie Van Halen, his son Wolfgang has picked out 25 songs for the upcoming tour set list. We all know that they will be playing the faves (Panama, Jump, You Really Got Me, Runnin' With The Devil, etc.). But if you had a chance to pick other 5 songs from the DLR era albums what would you like to hear on the tour.

I would like to hear (no particular order)

1. Feel Your Love Tonight
2. Bottom's Up!
3. And The Cradle Will Rock...
4. Hear About It Later
5. Girl Gone Bad

Seriously, Sammy played Dave songs in 2004, I wonder if Dave will be singing Sammy stuff. That era was a big part of their success too.

Dave's from the DLR Band album.

They've played 55, 1 Way To Rock, Eagles Fly, Give To Live....it's only fair to give Dave's solo outings a nod

DLR has by and large been avoiding his solo songs over the past few years, so it seems unlikely...but I could see them giving "Just Like Paradise" a whirl, maybe the "California Girls" cover. Would have to be a "hit" of some kind, though. I don't see "Relentless" happening.

Agree, I'm just giving MY preferred setlist.

What we'll see I'm sure is night after night of the Dave tracks from BOBW + about 4-5 more.

Understood. On that score, I'd like to hear what VH could do with some of the tunes from Filthy Little Mouth (IMO, the DLR album that comes closest in spirit to classic VH.)

Serious answer:
Dave hasn't got Sammy's range nor Sammy's voice.
Another serious answer:
Sammy waited 20 years to sing Dave songs, so let's check the opposite in 2027.

Partially true.

Right off the bat w/ the 5150 tour he was doing Panama, Jump and Ain't Talking Bout Love.

True he waited until 04 to branch out of that (except the odd You Really Got Me here and there which he medleyed w/ Cabo Wabo anyway).

Joepa, when I saw VH at MONSTERS OF ROCK in 88, they segued right out of Mikey's bass solo into RUNNIN WITH THE DEVIL, which rocked my ass!

Right.
So, in this scenario, let's pick out 3 Van Hagar songs to be sung by Dave
I'd choose 3 of my fav VHagar songs: Summer Nights or 5150, Runaround and Finish What Ya Started.
Now tell me what are the VHalen songs to be left out to accomodate space in the setlist for those 3.
And tell me how many times we already heard VHagar live in concert (I was born in 1971, never seen the Mighty Van Halen live before but saw VHagar 3 times, got 3 videos and 1 live cd)...
I still don't see the point for VHalen to play VHagar songs for those reasons.

Great points. Let this tour be a celebration of the DLR era. They can play Sammy tunes when they dump Dave again and rehire Sammy in 2009.

I'd love to have a recording of both the OU812 and 1984 tours, for sure.

Agree w/ DDregs too. No need for any hagar/cherone era tunes, not that I think they'd consider it anyway. But Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff would kick ass.

Unfortunately there will be no VH reunion tour for my son and I the pussy ticket brokers got all the tix and I ain't paying $500 for 2 tix to anyone. I said I drew the line when Aerosmith was 125 this time and there is no Crue but Joan Jett. Are you shitting me? I saw them with Crue for $75/ticket. The greed is getting unfathomable and these ticket brokers can kiss my ass! What a fuckin racket! Regular guy online gets 400 level seats at 10:00 am? There is a fix in and Live Nation can blow me as well. I hope Eddie pukes on stage form his antibuse that piece of shit greedy basturd!

Eddie you absolutely are the most pathetic piece of shit in the business. I hope Michael has one too many tequilas and bitch slaps your greedy drunken ass!

Judging by the look of the Van Halen website, I doubt it. It will be all DLR era material and I doubt any DLR solo material will be used either. I am however going to see theh first show in Charlotte and will post a setlist when I get home. I'll make sure to put spoiler on top, so nobody waltzes in by mistake. I am glad Charlotte was first, 'cause with these guys you don't know how long it's going to last.
