OT: Nolan Ryan clocked at 85

Postby conversationpc » Thu Aug 23, 2007 3:19 am

Did anyone else see that Nolan Ryan was clocked at 85mph throwing out the first pitch at a Japanese baseball game? Dude is 60 years old now and his fastball still approaches the average MLB fastball of guys who are more than 30 years his junior.

Amazing and I'm actually not that surprised.

there is a story that 5 years ago (which would have him still in his 70s I guess) Sandy Koufax was actually clocked @ 90 throwing bp or something @ Dodger Stadium.

Either one of them could come out of the Devil Rays bullpen and put up better numbers than those guys.

The man with the 105/mph fastball knocked down to only 85/mph....I'd say that's DAMN impressive for his age. can't say I'm suprised though. Leave it to a Texas boy.
