WOW!!

Just got through listening to that clip..that was pretty awesome.

Of course I have not seen guy perform on stage.

I was thinking that Jeremey had the gig..and I liked his singing as well.

This guy also deserves alot of consideration too.

BTW Thanks to Cat Eyes for the welcome a few weeks ago.

Does anyone know the timeframe when an announcement is going to be made on the lead singer situation???

Jason has been mentioned here before. A search for his name in this forum will find some extensive discussion. Apparently, he gave the Journey tribute thing up a while ago and has gotten into Christian music or something to that effect. Someone on the board did quite a bit of legwork to track him down.

Agreed that he nails Perry. The first time I heard his cover of Lovin' You Is Easy, I had to really listen to find differences from the original. I actually thought at first listen that someone had accidentally posted a rip from a Journey CD.

He would definitely be my #1 pick if I was looking for a soundalike. I like Hugo, but he doesn't seem to have much power in his voice when doing Journey, although he has it on his solo & Valentine stuff. Arnel's phrasing and delivery suck at times because of the language barrier and resulting mispronunciations.

You guys DO realize that he's an Albino and a midget besides, right? English is also his second language. Pig Latin is his native language...

;)

Seriously, he sounds great on Loving You is Easy. Tough to tell off one tune though.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

St. John said he's currently in a band called Gotham City, which plays secular music. I think he plays keys and does vocals on the Journey tunes. The fact that he's playing secular music leads me to believe he'd jump on the chance to lead Journey. Anyway here's the bands website courtesy of SJ. Unfortunately no audio clips :(

After checking out their website, he may be a born again Christian but all the songs they play are classic and pop rock stuff, like Styx and Journey. In one pic they show off their band name on the dressing room door-they come off to me as someone looking for bigger things. Who knows but Jason himself!

Listening right now... Sounds fantastic, however: Should Jason accept if an offer is made to him, Journey may find themselves right back where they started in spite of all this. :?

If the new singer (whomever he/she shall be) doesn't have a voice that is either strong enough, or used to the rigorous touring schedule that the band is famous for, they'll be setting up auditions again in no time. If their decision isn't thoroughly researched in all capacities, they will fail miserably, after which they surely would never recover. Remember, Steve Augeri said that he hadn't sung in years before being hired by Journey. The voice just wasn't used to the rigors that it was put through. :(

The public will only accept so many lead singer changes. But, hey who knows, maybe they're trying to set some kind of record.

Stu, (RVR) help me out here, but wasn't he the lead singer of the east coast band Escape? Alot of his old Journey Digest (I mean 5-6 years) were always signed Jason from Escape. There used to be a band here in Pittsburgh occasionally, that played at the HR and I think I remember the guy being Jason. Could be 100% wrong. He was on Journey boards too at times....I was supposed to be backstage with him in Pittsburgh when dickhead's appendix blew up and they cancelled.....

Anyone know?

Jason Kelty is probably the closest Perry replica I've ever heard.Awesome voice.
Although I've heard him before, this is the first time I see how he looks like...Hmm.
I'd say that if this guy would have auditioned for Journey,Schon might've had the same reaction when they auditioned Hugo, something like *No way,not again!Too close!*

I am working on getting live clips of them but not getting anywhere. I know the old sound man at the Toy Tiger has/had some soundboard recordings of them. If I get them you guys will shit... The guy was better live than on that studio track. I dont say that lightly.
