Saw Peter Cetera tonight

Postby squirt1 » Sat Aug 25, 2007 12:57 pm

If you ever get the chance to see Peter Cetera, it is an amazing show with about a 40 piece orchestra plus his own band and a singer who could sound like Cher on the Cetera/Cher duet from the 80's. He did his solo songs and many Chicago songs. He has not lost anything since the late 60's and that is what everyone around us was talking about at the end of the show.

I saw him in Utah back in May in a gorgeous setting and indeed, it was a great show. You really get your moneys worth with him.

This was even better- it was FREE. He was brought in by a NE Cincinnati suburb Blue Ash- for the Taste of Blue Ash. Tomorrow night Dennis DeYoung ! The food was good , too! I think it was 102 today but we had a strong breeze. Tomorrow only 90. Heat gets us grandmas.

You saw Peter Cetera? Geez, I'm sorry. Was Ralph Macchio there?
Sorry, I know Chicago is/was a great band, but...too much Karate Kid ruined PC for a lot of people.

Hey Ark- Wouldn't you take the $$$$ for a song for a movie. It really has nothing to do with the Chicago yrs. Don't you remember the late 60's? then 70's & 80's & post '85 solo ? Guess not ! Give the guy his due. Amen !

Great to know he's still going strong. Although I've a lot of respect for Jason S, Cetera's the only one who does full justice to the hit HTSIS, lucky you!

Styxman- I saw Jason several times and he was so young he joked about being a fan in his teen yrs. He does the songs justice. Peter left stating that he needed to and I think it was to raise his daughter, so he left clear path for the new singer.Anyway it was a very professional show with great sound. Maybe 700WLW AM.com will have some footage up since they were a big sponser.

It's great that both parties are still out there and active. Don't you feel Jason forces out the lyrics to Hard to say.....? He's made a great contribution to Chicago though, love the bigger than Elvis track 8) Does he sing this at their shows?

Only wish they'd pay a visit to UK land

Styxman- He did Daydream Believer -Monkey's .I don't remember anything Elvis. There are some Peter Cetera Live Video's 2004 and that is basically what I saw last night. The Orchestra must have been 40 or so. He said Blue Ash Symphony, But I wonder if he meant Cincinnati. I still have to check on that. Tonight is Dennis DeYoung and more food !

I have that video...good one. FYI..I meant the Chicago track Bigger Than Elvis, Jason's father played alongside Elvis and as the story goes, everyone else was looking at Elvis but little Jason just looked out for his old man!

Enjoy you DDY concert but unfortunately I won't be commenting on that

Seen Chicago several times with Peter and with JAson. Both were good. Jason does a good job. Have yet to Peter solo. To be honest, I didn't know he was still doing anything-ERIC

What do you think about yet another compilation CD being churned out by the group, it's getting to be a bit of joke now, ain't it?

I didn't know there was another coming out. Yea it is kinda of sad. Maybe the group will put a few new songs on it. Hear has been doing the same thing too. Bad thing is, you can't buy the new tunes on I tunes or any of the other places, so you have to get the "whole" cd.
If Chicago is going to put out a new hits cd, it needs to be a box set. At least 4 cds too. Have all the hits from all eras, live songs from both eras, unreleased songs, demos, etc... Now that would be worth spending money on. But I guess since there last cd did pretty well, it is time for a new hits collection with the new songs on it. But I am assuming it has songs from 30 on it, since I have yet to hear of it.-ERIC

Eric, I've got two box sets already and now I hear a new set is awaiting release, although this band is probably one of the most prolific in the states, three box sets seems a little over optimistic on their part. No doubt it's the contract with the record label that dictates what is churned out.......It's Rush and that bloody Dragon syndrome all over again  I wonder which live DVD box set they'll release prior to the Holidays?

I have the 4 cd box set from the Cetera era which did not include the releases of 16 and 17. It was ok at best. I do not know of the second one that is out? So they are planning a thord box set? Maybe I'll get that one, and not look up the second-ERIC

I just puked laughing! Seriously though, Chicago puts on a great show and their CD last year was pretty good. "Feel" was excellent. Cetera is kinda not interesting to me.
