The only other version of the band I would pay to see at this point is if you went out with the formation that was talked about before Perry came back in '96 - with Chalfant and Rolie included. Steve Smith would be fine, but I really like Deen.

Perry grows his hair, and loses weight, and talks about returning, but never does. The Loons start the rumors based on what I just mentioned.

Next question?

Correction...1978-1983.

"Arrival" is better than either ROR or TBF, though there are a few good tunes on each.

It is not! No Perry (or maybe JSS) means - no magic. arrival was just a decent album that could have been by one of many bands - it did not have the Journey magic - but then, i like ROR and TBF the most........

Deen brings nothing to Journey other than a decent emergency backup singer. Deen is WAY out of his league trying to drum for this band. He can play the sounds of Smith admirably, but his original drumming in Journey has been nothing short of terrible. IF Perry ever came back Deen would be gome immediately.

Bah.

Deen knows how to play to a guitarist. :)

Actually, I think Deen's days are numbered. Prediction: Deen Castronovo is not with Journey at the end of 2008.

Well, dude good luck.

I hope this is more accurate than your quarterly announcement that we will hear from Perry.

The "announcement" you are referring to WAS wrong. I've admitted that and moved on. When I'm wrong I say I'm wrong. I was wrong.

Interesting. Always thought that Deen staying on would be part of a Perry deal.
I think it'd be essential to have DC singing the high harmonies that Perry no longer can. Much like he did for Augeri.
However, if there was to be a REAL reunion, then they may be obligated to offer the job to Steve Smith.

Actually, I think Deen's days are numbered. Prediction: Deen Castronovo is not with Journey at the end of 2008.

I do think that whatever Journey's course is next year, you may be right with your prediction. Just a gut feeling.

I just don't know, San Juan how a dude as cool as yourself could be roped into it.

Sorry man, I like my Journey creative, live and sincere to their craft. They haven't been that way since Perry was there. Call me crazy, but I miss the guy. This band is nothing without him. Since 1998 they've sold about 500,000 albums with their new lineup. At the same time, the back catalog moved approximately 10 times that. I'd say I'm not alone in my views.

No question, a statement. Bullshit.

Yeah the comments you're referring to happen, but that messageboard chatter has been constant for almost 10 years. Perry only responds when something reaches him through his channels that run much deeper.

Like when Neal dropped hints that Perry would be making guest appearances after the WOF.

The comments you're referring to happen, but they're not the rumors that Perry responds to. Those rumors come from deeper than the shit that gets blathered about on these messageboards.

I'm beginning to wonder if someone within the Journey organization(if that's not an oxymoron ) isn't planting the seeds from which those rumors grow just to keep the speculation alive. Can anyone say those people are above doing such a thing? Image

Your head must be spinning with these convoluted theories....

Perry doesn't respond to anything unless he wants to. He simply puts out a preapproved questionnaire with the same answers once a year.

Please....Get a friggin' grip on reality, will you?

Actually, he has answered several of my questions - and no they did not include favorite color, food, or dick size.

I know at least one year he actually typed all the answers himself.

I do realize that this does not mean that he is returning to Journey or coming out of retirement, growing his hair, cutting his toenails, producing, writing, or singing anything he doesn't want to -so save the crap for someone else.

Like typing is such rocket science, and anybody of Perry's stature shouldn't be doing that for himself.

My point was that he puts all these questions in front of him, and then chooses which ones he will answer. The questions he chooses are always benign; however, they are always something to make the Loons swoon, for no other reason than the fact that he chose one of THEIR questions to answer.

If somebody needed desperately to know your dick size, would you be eager to come back out in public and sing for them? If you still could, that is.

1. Another singer -- we've lost interest

2. Another tour -- see above

3. Going "back" to their "legacy sound" -- Give it up. You had the glory days and they've passed. Can't recreate it and can't replicate Perry. It's sad to even try.

4. Re-recording their hits with another new singer -- DUMBEST IDEA EVER. LEAVE IT ALONE. Those songs had their shining moment and they're special for a reason. Don't shit on them by trying to make 2 more dollars off them and sticking a new voice to them. Then you really would be the ultimate Journey COVER band.

5. Recording or NOT recording newly created music -- go right ahread and record new things. nothing wrong with that.

6.. Any responsibility to preserve or protect the legacy? -- LEAVE IT ALONE. That's the responsibility. Just quit fucking with shit. It does/did just fine on it's own.

7. Any responsibility to their longtime fanbase? -- since they're already alienated most of them at one time or another, either theough the dumping of Perry, Augeri and /or Soto, there can't be much of a fanbase left to worry about, but as long as they are still planning to tour, and expect people to continue to pay to see/hear them, they absolutely have a responsibility.

8. How you view your favorite (or once-favorite) band today -- not very favorably. too much musical chairs with the singers, too much disrespect for what was, and not enough respect for what is.
