What a dude, he clearly wanted this for Michael.

I have to agree with you on this one. Sammy seems to be one hell of a friend and at least Michael is communicating to his fans and not leaving everything up in the air. :D

It's disingenous to suggest that 'a lot of people deal with cancer without being mean spirited blah blah'......a LOT of people aren't famous musos who are scrutinised and criticised from every angle.....he ain't perfect by any stretch, but a marriage breakup and cancer will fuck anyone over. And like he's the only muso ever to have a problem with drink and drugs.....fantastic achievement to overcome it.

And no-one knows what's its like until they've been there.

Good luck to them all, and MA and EVH have a lot of good history and they don't owe each other a thing.....you all are supposed to be Van Halen fans, many of you who have been moaning like fuck for a VH/DLR reunion for years.....now you've got it, you still aren't fucking happy.

The Anthony message board is up and going for those who hate Edward.....

Get over the bullshit and be happy, VH are back with Roth and the tickets are selling FAST!! Whoo - Hooo!!!!!!!

PLEASE come to Australia, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I disagree. Eddie made this bed. The fact that Mikey isn't a part of this speaks volumes on what kind of person EVH has become.

This is not a true reunion, so for all the speak that some have been moaning for a VH/roth reunion still do have a right to not be entirely happy with this end result, because it's not a FULL reunion. It's EVH/AVH/Roth and a bad case of nepotism.

Couldn't have worded that better (which is why I didn't.)
I would've loved to have seen the Roth-era reunion...but with the fact that Mikey's gone...I don't care to.

At all effects, this is not a reunion at all for the band themselves. They named this situation as a "new band". Look at the conference video.
They put Mike Anthony in the past, as history for the band named Van Halen.
The fact they took away Anthony from the site is no news to me. They did it before with Roth when Hagar was the singer. No mention for Roth at all on their website for a very long time. So predictable...

Call a spade a spade...

What you're (and Roth, when he said it at the new conference) are trying to do, is validate the severing of Mikey from this group....by calling it a new thing. It's either a reunion or it's not a reunion. by trying to put a spin on it as a 'new thing' is laughable...because all it is is a nostalgia thing....they're desperate to NOT call it a nostalgia tour, but that's exactly what it will be.

In fact, during that same news conference, Roth made it clear that the 25 songs they worked out were NOT going to include the new songs from 1996...because they had to fulfill the "responsibility" (laughable in itself) of playing the old stuff.

Contradictions...between Roth and the rothheads, there's tons of them....

That's too bad. "Me Wise Magic" might have been cool live.

If you're waiting a validation from me w/rgds to Anthony's firing, I already posted in a different thread why I did not stand for the bros back then and I don't stand for Anthony now. The bros, right or wrong (IMO wrong) , decided that if Anthony went along with Hagar he couldn't get back to the band. He did and he took his responsabilities. Now the situation is not what we all expected (a full-fledged Mighty Van Halen reunion), and if I standed completely on the Roth side I could not have parted for Anthony anyway due to his friend Hagar.
Is this a reunion? Roth reunited with the bros. Anthony not. But, Do you really believe Anthony tried to get back with the bros this time? They call it a new band, arguably with a smart move.
Is this a nostalgia tour? Absolutely. Just like it was back in 2004. A nostalgia tour, and not a good one. But I didn't hear any Hagar fan complaining back then.
Regarding the new songs: too bad they aren't going to play them. I loved Can't Get this stuff no more ,even more than Me Wise Magic....

Cheers 8)

Ah it's anyone's perogative to disagree with my post......but it's an undeniable fact that so many people have been moaning about a re-union for years.....and typical of some VH fans, it's never good enough.

I'm happy as a clam over this, and so should all VH fans be, irrespective of the Michael Anthony thing.

Have to agree it's not all that it could've been.

feels more like Page/Plant (Eddie and DLR) than Van Fucking Halen at this time.

Still, WWWWAAAAYYYYY Better than NOT having Dave though.

Lets see....David Lee Roth (founding member), Eddie VAN HALEN (founding member), Alex VAN HALEN (founding member), Wolfgang VAN HALEN (VAN HALEN's son)

Looks and sounds like VAN HALEN to me.

Roth said at the press confrence that this is NOT a reunion. The press is labeling it a reunion not the band.

Hell they can call it whatever they want, the perception is that it is a reunion between EVH and DLR. Lets face it, people are buying the tickets because of that. If Roth started a "new" band with anybody else - would anybody care? If Van Halen got anybody else to sing - would there be this much buzz? I doubt it.
