T'Pau - "Heart & Soul"

That's one of my faves. The radio station I listen to plays a lot of the songs in this thread.

The lead singer's name escapes me right now, but she has been touring again, largely because of that song. I'd pay to hear it live...great song.

Carol Decker. I'd like to see her on tour. I'll have to check & see if she's coming down here.

Carol Decker...I think...

T'Pau are best known in the UK for this song. It was Number One for weeks and weeks and drove most of us Brits completely insane....

Wow, definately a forgotten one, thanks. I grew up on so many of these Canadian bands.

And T'Pau always reminded me of Luba for some reason.

Midnight Oil-Beds are burning.

Here's an 80's one-hit-wonder that Andrew can relate to. I don't know why, but I've always loved this song! I used to laugh like hell at the video though. Funny to think that the singer is a lawyer who defends the rights of the Aboriginies! This song says it all I guess... This band has also had like 6 or 7 other cd's if I recall correctly. Here's to Australia Andrew!!!

Some really great ones.... I heard "New Girl Now" by Honeymoon Suite on Hair Nation on Sirius this afternoon. I was thinking about pulling out their CDs and then BOOM they're on the radio.

"We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" and "Don't Disturb This Groove" - MAJOR high school flashbacks. OMG!

Just thought of a couplf of others I hadn't seen on here yet - "Oh Sheila" by Ready for the World. This was a fave of me and my friends since my best friend's name was/is Sheila. :) Also, "Tender Love" by Force MDs. Great ballad.

Yeah, one of my favorite tunes, yulog. Just oozes coolness. The fucking bass in that song is sick.

I don't know who performs it, but it has a Jazz / Strat Guitar ....fast 6/8 "waltz/shuffle" feel:

They keep saying, "Ooooh yeah - you got me hypnotiiiiiized...." (male falsetto on top of 3 part harmony)

Hope these clues help....song's runnin' thru my HEAD now..... 8)

Since I can't open Youtube at work, I don't know who the groups are that some are posting about here. If these were already brought up, sorry. Some cool guitar bands from 70's and 80's:

Gamma - Man in The Ship and a bunch of other great tunes
Mahogany Rush - King Bee Baby
Pat Travers Band - Boom, Boom Out Go the Lights, Snortin' Whiskey Drinking Cocaine
Robin Trower- Bridge of Sighs, Day of the Eagle

Boy, back in the day, we just used to sit back and listen to this stuff for hours. Oh to be young and responsibility free again.

There ain't nothing wrong with that bro.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Ok, so maybe not 'obscure', but definitely a one-hit wonder!

Another not-so-obscure band is Kool & the Gang. I've got my 15 year old son addicted to them. He especially loves "Misled".

Definitely one-hit wonder!!! If it weren't for the song/video, they'd, no doubt, be obscure. It is a great song either way. Kool & the Gang is fun, too. I am having such an 80s flashback right now... I might have to go tease my hair. ;)
