Rubicon

Postby conversationpc » Fri Aug 31, 2007 11:38 am

Just some information on my favorite Journey song...

Definitions of Rubicon on the Web:

A stream in central Italy.

the boundary in ancient times between Italy and Gaul; Caesar's crossing it with his army in 49 BC was an act of war
a line that when crossed permits of no return and typically results in irrevocable commitment

The Rubicon (Rubico, in Italian Rubicone) is an ancient Latin name for a small river in northern Italy. In Roman times it flowed into the Adriatic Sea between Ariminum and Caesena. The actual modern identity of the water-course is uncertain, it is usually identified as the Pisciatello in its upper reaches and then the Fiumicino to the sea.

One of my fave songs - the explanation you found is great (and in plain English!). Thanks for sharing it.

Very inspirational song.....gives a whole new meaning to what follows: "Opportunity is yours"....so, when you cross it, you cross it COMPLETELY COMMITTED.

Rubicon Trail
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rubicon Trail is a 22-mile-long route, part road and part trail, located in the Sierra Nevada of the western United States, due west of Lake Tahoe and about 80 miles east of Sacramento.

The maintained portion of the route is called the McKinney-Rubicon Springs Road; it begins in Georgetown, California, a hamlet in California's Gold Country. The road continues from its intersection with California State Route 49 towards Wentworth Springs, where the trailhead for the unmaintained portion of the route exists adjacent to Loon Lake. The trail portion of the route is about 12 miles long and passes in part through the El Dorado National Forest.

I've got to say that the JSS version of this song live was one of the best concert moments I've ever seen!

great way to end the album with a bang.i remember that album had them holding hands in a circle where the songs were listed on the lp.most bands didn't print pics on there albums in those days.
