Thats true but MA was still officially in the band.

In the 90's when Journey was on hiatus and Steve Perry needed hip surgery Ross Valory didn't go out and tour as The Other Half making a fortune playing Journey music that he didn't write and bash Neal Schon on stage every night. He didn't say "this song couldn't be played on the last Journey tour because Neal forgot how to play it but MY guitar player can.

Sammy took a few shots at Eddie, but again, you're not telling the truth. Sammy did NOT bash Eddie on stage every night. Maybe 2-3 times, but that's it.

And what band was MA still officially in? There was no VH. They had no singer. They were not making music. Mike was not welcome at 5150. Eddie didn't want him around. His choice was to sit on his ass, or go play.

Oh, and who exactly was singing songs that they didn't write on that tour? Sam? Dave? I don't think so. They both wrote all their own lyrics....those songs were as much theirs as they were Eddie's.....and don't forget, Mikey and Alex were always credited on the songs, too.
Would it have been okay for Alex to form a band and play VH songs? Or play with Sam or Dave?

Alex would not have dared go against his brother. One reason why his drumming has never evolved - the only thing he has ever done is VH songs.

Go to You Tube and search 'sammy hagar summer nights 2006' and every video on there Hagar bashes Eddie before the song so I think it's safe to bet that he did it evert night.

Sorry, bud. Show me a link to prove it.

Sammy didn't even tour in 2001 until October, and I can't find anything on the VHND or the Links, which are the two places you could really count on for VH news back then, that said Mikey even played with Sammy once.

In fact, the articles about Sammy birthday gig down in Cabo didn't even mention Mike being there at all.

Mikey toured with Sammy a bit in 2002 as a special guest....he didn't do the whole tour that year.

Who cares about 2006? I was talking about the 2002 Sam/Dave tour. That's what is relevant to the conversation....but nice job trying to change the subject when you're wrong.

Who cares about what Sammy says about Eddie now? He was obviously referring to Eddie being pickled for most of the 2004 tour.
Sammy said plenty of bad stuff about Eddie after Eddie kicked him out of the band in 1996, too. And Eddie/Alex, particularly Eddie, talked cash-money shit about both Sammy and Dave back then....the majority of which has been proven to be not true.

So since then, Eddie has managed to make one lousy failure of a record with Gary, and tour twice....once with Gary, once with Sammy...who he bashed to no end for the previous 8 years.

And now he's going to tour with Dave, who Eddie has basically portrayed as the Devil himself since 1985.

So are you saying it's okay for Dave to bash Sammy and Eddie, Eddie to bash Sammy, Dave and Mike, but neither Sammy nor Mike can ever say anything?

And if you call that "bashing" Eddie, I'd hate to see what you call it when Sammy REALLY said something bad about Eddie.

He's saying Eddie couldn't play it because of the special guitar needed....the Trans Trem, I think it was...and Eddie said it was too hard to play on a regular guitar, I'm guessing....and it is hard to play on a regular guitar...RIGHT. You can play it, but obviously Eddie would want to play it right, not just play the notes. Vic did an okay job, but it didn't sound like the VH version, because he wasn't using the correct guitar and effects.

I don't see that as Sammy bashing Eddie at all...he's just saying that it's complicated and basically Eddie didn't want to mess with that guitar and effects.

Of course, I guess someone who was always looking for a reason to bash Sammy might see it differently, but everyone else in the world wouldn't see it that way.

I'm not bashing Hagar but I don't think it was nessasary to say what he said in front of thousands of people every night like he did. I bet Eddie won't bash Hagar or MA on the VH tour on stage.

Anyways everything we all say here is almost all speculation and even if something is said by the band members how do we know how much of that is true? No one really knows the truth about what happened between band members but the members themselves and they all have their own side of their story. I think MA is the most honest person out of all of them and if all of them wrote a tell all book I would buy MA's book.

Agreed. I'd buy Mikey's book in a minute.

Personally, I'm inclined to believe 3 of them....Sammy, Mike and Dave, way before I believe the lying Dutchmen.

Alex...well, he just says whatever Eddie tells him to at the time. Hence, his comments about Dave, Sam and Mike and even Gary at different points.

Eddie has proven over and over that he is a liar. Interview after interview over the years proves that.

Dave, I'm sure, is not easy to deal with regularly. But as hard as he was to deal with before he left VH in the 80's, I think Eddie is easily that bad or even worse now.

Dave said after the MTV fiasco in 96 in his open letter to the fans that he found out Eddie had hired a singer before the awards show, and wondered how that person felt watching them all on MTV. Everyone assumed that singer was Gary.
Eddie and Alex blasted Dave, even threatening to not put the 2 new songs on the BOV1. I remember Alex looking into the camera and addressing Dave directly on that.
Then, a few years later, we find out that what Dave said was 100% true....but the singer was Mitch Malloy. Mitch confirmed the exact scenario Dave gave....he had been told he was in the band, saw the original VH on live TV, and knew that the public wouldn't accept a new singer.

That's why I'm inclined to believe Sammy's account of what happened in 96. Sammy has not provided volumes of evidence that he doesn't tell the truth.....and Eddie has.

Now, could Sammy maybe not talk about this stuff as much? Sure. But he's a straight shooter for the most part....interviewers ask him questions and he answers them.
Maybe he should just say "sorry, I'm not addressing that subject anymore", but oh well. It is what it is.

So watch your back, Dave.

And even with all this, I can't wait to see them in Charlotte and Greensboro.

Have you ever read the leaked chapters from Hagar's book on the internet? I think it's chapters 20 and 21. I would also buy Hagar's book too and I wish he would have released that book. Crazy From The Heat was good but I wouldn't say it was a tell all book, more of a autobiography. I agree with you about a Eddie tell all book. I wouldn't waste my time and he does lie a lot but he sure can play that guitar.

I've read that stuff. I question whether it's real or not. I've never seen where Sammy confirmed it.

And yeah, I hope Eddie is sober and ripping on this tour. That's what I hope I'm paying to see.

Check out www.evhgear.com and click on "check it out" underneath Eddie's replica guitar. You can hear Eddie's guitar, drums and possibly Wolfgang playing bass. I think they may have taken parts of their rehearsals and put them on this website. After you click on that click on the tabs at the top, they all have samples from different songs but are obviously re recorded and not from the original recordings. If these recordings are recent they sound pretty good. At the top click on "the case" and it plays the beginning of Unchained and the other tabs play parts of songs from Women And Children First.

I know he didn't bash Neal,it was just an example. Ross is a cool dude and I'm sure you know but for those that don't, besides Neal he is the only other original member in the band.

Well, there's certainly some REALLY important issues being discussed here.....

Would any of you actually buy an album of new material with Roth out front? I would, for one.

Isn't Anthony an original member, too?

The guitarist is Josh Ramos and the singer is Kevin Chalfant. They put out two albums in the early '90's. Gregg Rolie is the keyboard player.

Well technically,Mark Stone is the original bass player but was kicked out (big shocker) way before VH recorded their first album. Now I know everyone will say Mark Stone was not in the band when they changed the name to Van Halen. If it weren't for another band already called Mammoth VH may not have changed the name. Mammoth played at parties for a long time and it was Eddie,Dave,Alex and Mark in the band and Eddie and Dave wrote a lot of the originals during this time. When MA joined they were still going by Mammoth for a short time. I don't think they changed the name of the band the day MA joined. Dave talks about Mark Stone more than MA in his book.

I know I'll be bashed for this post. :)

Shit I screwed the pooch. I've got 1 The Storm show and they played 10 songs from the first record (not a bad thing) but no Journey at ALL.
