NIG, this is truly a great thread...seriously. I've been thinking around the clock for songs, most mentioned and to be honest it's brought back great memories of the 80's. Obscure may not tipify the majority of selections, mine included but I think I've finally found the most obscure 80's hit and a whole album at that. Burning a Million pounds, creating an album that everyone bought into....and at the end of the day it was an arts project. You've got to take your hats off to the two guys that created KLF...it's a piece of work that really encapsulates the whole 80's music scene. They were basically takin' the piss and really when you listen back to that era it was pretty simple shit that captivated the buying public, Styx, Journey included.

This isn't the track off the great white album but it's okay.

Diamond Girl came out in 1986 and has been in heavy rotation since. Love that song.

The KLF did a song with Glenn Hughes on vocals - ~What Time is love...cos they considered him to be the "voice of rock" - it was okay for a dance song - had a bit of power....they were also responsible for Justified and Ancient with Tammy Wynette..........

Jim Photoglo - Fool in Love with You

This version is off an import cd of his that he redid, but the original version came out in 1981. Try finding the original.

Great thread!

I loved these guys in the early 80's - saw them open for CHEAP TRICK in 79, and loved em!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UboSdR4932w

Another late 70's (but close enough- and they recorded into the 80's)- saw THESE guys open for KISS on the DYNASTY tour...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IelYhIJVeWg

And the mother f'ers at YOUTUBE pulled Toronto's original of this one, but the New Pornographers cover is pretty hot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MfESZHY9Z4

LOVED that damn song!!!

Shit I could do this all night...

For me it was the best era for music. A friend of mine asked me the other day, "Hey Rick, you know music was made after the 70's and 80's don't you?" I don't give a shit, I like what I like. :D
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Yeah, I always liked those dudes. Actually, two of them (Gary Shea, Jimmy Waldo) went on to form Alcatraz w/ Graham Bonnett and "Yngwie" something or another on guitar!

Aldo's a Canuck, Larry. I don't see any similarity to Bruce or Southside Johnny, either. Do you have any of his CD's? Most people like his debut the best, but I like his 2nd one, Subject: Aldo Nova the best.
