Same here, get a lot of crap for it at work and at home. I usually go in phases, I'll listen to a band for a month or two then move on to the next. I've gotten stuck on Journey since about spring of last year and can't move on. There is just so much music from so many eras and it's all freakin good! I don't get into the Journey eras that don't include Perry as much, but I still listen to that on occasion, especially the pre Perry stuff.

Mickey and Augeri have a similar sound because their vocal tone is really close to one another. If Mickey, Augeri and Perry were sitting in a room together, and they were just talking, not singing, you'd hear they have a very similar pitch in their speaking voice too.

I think Mickey out edges Augeri in vocal quality (when he was at his peak). Aging sucks all around, don't it? Jane is on a level Augeri was never capable of. Biggest problem (with them both) is neither have any soul.

There are some mighty tunes on Starship's last album, Love Among The Cannibals...
Grace Slick was out at that point, so Mickey was sole lead vocalist... like on Freedom At Point Zero and most of Modern Times...

I kinda dug some of LATC, but I absolutely LOVED FAPZ and Mod TIMES. Great albums, both of them. (And don;t forget that Mickey sang lead on Elvin Bishop's FOOLED AROUND AND FELL IN LOVE, one of the best love songs of the 70's)

Wow! Mickey Thomas' vocals have definitely changed! Doesn't sound like the guy from Starship anymore; at least not on that track. Sorry, but that track sounds awful to me.

I never realized Brad Delp was considered as a replacement for Perry back in 1984! That would've been interesting.
