Overrated does not mean SUCKS.

Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands of all time, but yes...they could in fact be called overrated but I prefer just to say they are overplayed.

The Beatles deserve respect, but you won't see me pulling their albums out all the time. They are influential, but I prefer who they influenced. AND, they do have some terrible, terrible songs. Harrison is my fave of the Fab four, McCartney is definitely overrated.

Dave Matthews is the epitome of overrated. His band is very talented, but the following that "DAVE" has is annoying to say the least.

Bruce Springsteen is a legend. He is perhaps overrated in that a lot of his fans look down on everything else, but he is a legend.

Zep and the Beatles were as influential to ROR and an entire culture as any two bands could possibly be. I'd say most people from that era wouldn't even try to argue with that. They are both legendary. I won't comment on Springsteen, because I never paid attention to him. He was a blip on my radar screen. Doesn't mean he wasn't extremely talented, just not in the same league as Zeppelin and the Beatles.

Even if Lennon and Harrison were still alive, I wouldn't want to see a reunion tour now. Same with Page and Plant. Let the music they did in their prime speak for itself and just go create something new on your own. Why would a classic or legendary band tarnish their image, looking like a bunch of old farts on stage. Sorry, just doesn't work for me.
Maybe some MTV type unplugged, sitdown thing, where they won't look like refugees from an eldercare facility.

As a music critic, you certainly have a bright future ahead in the fast-food industry.

Congratulations on actually topping every single one of the many retarded statements I've already seen you post here.

I'm not a huge Zeppelin fan by any means but if you think all Zeppelin sounds the same, you either aren't listening or haven't heard much of their music.

Bingo.

But after all, the dude's a self-admitted Raider fan, so there ya go, lol...

Listen roxx, you tout yourself as this big music critic/expert, yet you have a dude as your avatar that NEVER enjoyed ANY success in the industry, was part of a team of musicians that embarrassed their industry and profession, fucked over their fans and you STILL to this day have not conceded that the band played fraudulent shows. You're a typical California, hippy pussy.

So you pick on my avatar, of all fucking things? Short on ammo, as usual, I see.

Let's first address your flawed claim that Augeri never had any success in the industry.

I'll bet my next ten paychecks right now that he's got more coin in his bank account today than you or I will ever make in our respective lifetimes. Even without any alleged, possible "payoff" he may or may not have received from Journey, Inc. upon his departure, I'm sure his years in the band were quite lucrative.

"Checkmate," as you might say.

And as to the "fraudulent shows" thing, I'll concede here and now that yes, it happened...the lip synching, that is. However, if you could actually remember what I posted way back when, when all that was going down, my entire beef was with those who claimed that Augeri totally lipped ALL of the shows on the band's 2005 tour. That was total bullshit, and I called it as such, based on the fact that I was literally ten fucking feet from the guy at the Chula Vista show, two nights into the tour. No way in hell that would have gotten past me.

Point is, you repeatedly exhibit an inability to accept the importance of many innovators in the music business. Anyone wanting prime examples of "embarrassment" need look no further than your blathering tirades. Bagging on respected icons like the Beatles, Led Zep, and others isn't clever, or cool. It just makes you look like a buffoon. If that's your goal, more power to ya.

Bottom line: all the smoke-screens and sophomoric smack you can muster can never deflect away from the fact that you're clueless beyond repair when it comes to even the most basic of music history.

And in case you haven't noticed, I'm not alone in that sentiment.

BTW: "typical California, hippy pussy"???

Whatever. Go fuck a goat, son.

Augeri covered songs, nothing more. I might have heard Higher Place (a shitty song) on the radio twice. Other than that he has NO songs that are EVER played here in Chicago, be it in Journey or the other half ass bands he was in. He made his money singing pretty good karaoke from a singer that MADE those songs famous. The ultimate coattail rider...more power to him. Not a bad guy by any means, just a nobody in the biz. In fact, if he tours again I'll probably go.
As far as The Beatles and LZ go, I'm not some fucking teenager in awe of them. I've never liked their music, and in the case of the Beatles, find it basic, repetitive and cheap. As far as LZ goes, I love a LOT of the guitar work and some of the drumming but can't muster the strength to listen to Plant's vocals.
In closing, I'll say this. You dismissed Augeri lipping. You flat out said that he was NOT lipping entire sonngs...which he most certainly was. Maybe not the shows you went to, but he did it quite a LOT. The Nerf basketball over the microphone and holding the mic to his mouth like a sissy would a dick were dead giveaways. The fact that you disappeared from this board for months was more than an admission you were wrong. You only now slithered back in here because of the Soto fiasco and the smokescreen it provided for you to sneak your carcass back in. You're a 50-something year old, 5 foot, geek. Go fuck yourself.

BROTHER, you broke my heart. Granted I am not a Springsteen fan, but he deserves his props as a musician and songwriter.I will give you Dave Matthews (talk about all of an artists music sounding the same),but Zeppelin, The Beatles and The Who are Icons!!

I love Zep, although if there is a reunion happening, it's at least 10 years too late!!

Saint John, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
