Caught In The game VS Too Hot To Sleep

Postby Journey/Survivor » Thu Aug 02, 2007 2:10 pm

My list,

"Caught In the game" VS "She's A Star" winner "Caught In The game"
"Jackie Don't Go" VS "Desparate Dreams" winner "Jackie Don't Go"
"I Never stopped Loving You" VS "Too Hot To Sleep" winner "Too Hot to Sleep"
"It Doesn't Have To Be This Way" VS "Didn't Know It was Love" [/b]Tie
"Ready For the Real Thing" VS "Rhythm Of the City" winner "Rhythm Of The city"
"Half Life" VS "Here Comes Desire" winner "Here Comes Desire"
"What Do You Really Think" VS "Across The Miles" winner "Across The Miles"
"Slander" VS "Tell Me I'm The One" winner "Slander"
"Santa Ana Winds" VS "Can't Give It Up" winner "Can't Give It Up"

Again, there were so many tough decisions to make here!

"She's A star" is one of my absolute favorite songs ever, but "Caught In The Game" might be my #1 favorite Survivor song ever?

I came very close to saying "It Doesn't Have To Be This Way" over "Didn't Know It Was Love" but in the end I couldn't decide.

I love Sullivan's solo in "Santa Ana Winds" quite a bit, but overall I like "Here Comes Desire" a little bit more.

I also love Sullivan's guitar in "Santa Ana Winds" it's really great, I love the tone on it and it's great soloing, but overall I like "Can't Give It Up" a little more.

Too Hot To Sleep is a goddam MONSTER. Way better than CITG, though Jackie Don't Go absolutely rocks.

Frankies guitar work on Caught In The Game is the stuff legends are made of. Too Hot To Sleep has way too much filler in it for me. It also has a little of that Jamo cheese to it. I'll take Caught In The Game. IT's and edgier and moodier Survivor. I think songs like Santa Ana Winds, Slander, Half-Life represent what the soul of the band is all about. It is true street.

I'll take CITG as well...but what about Burning Bridges?

If THTS had of had Bickler on vocals however, with that edge, it would have most likley been the best Survivor album of all time...

I really do agree with you on this one. Althoug Jamo is terrific on many of the songs. I think with Bickler on leads, it would have had a much darker, smokier, moodier sound. I always thought Bicker's voice fit Sullivan and JP"s lyrics to a t.

The moment THTS came out and I bought it, after one run of record, I was thinking of this. Oh how I wished Dave sang on it. :)

Fortunately, the 1993-era concerts had a LOT of the Too Hot To Sleep songs in the setlist. THTS was basically Caught in the Game mixed with the progression on from When Seconds Count. Not taking anything away from Jimi Jamison (who did some of his best vocals ever for this album), but the harder-edged material was pure Dave and he nailed it live.

for my money...I like Too Hot better becuase its less pop like Caught.... was and though I prefer Dave over Jimi I like them both just fine n Jamo never gave a better performance before or since as he did on THTS!!

Caught..has some all-time great moments and its my 2nd favorite Dave cd and 3rd overall...its just very poppy in the middle ...the first 3 songs , slander and Santa anna winds are just gems...the others are okay but just that...though It doesn't have to be this way is a pretty cool song just doesn't blow me away like the others i mentioned.

both great and we need to hear more and different songs in the 2007 winter/2008 winter spring shows
