It sounds like he knows that he pissed off Eddie when he toured with Hagar. At the end of the interview he said he would tour with VH and Dave again for a reunion.

Then he said it's funny they called it a reunion. VH NEVER called this a reunion so that was misleading. But I guess he thinks it was OK to call the 04 tour a reunion without Dave.


He didn't speak very highly of Dave (nothing new) when he said "when Dave hits the stage he becomes Diamond Dave." But then he says he would still tour with Dave and VH.

I don't see how he's contradicting himself on either count. The reality is, Wolfie is going to have to be pretty flat-out amazing to win people over. And the Dave comment isn't really inflammatory.

1. Not a contradiction, but a statement of fact. Mike saying he doesn't blame EVH for wanting to play with his son has absolutely nothing to do with Wolfie having to worry about potential crowd backlash.

2. Wrong, and wrong. First, he said he found out about the tour on the internet, like everyone else did. Guess what? Most places, scratch that, nearly ALL sites called this tour a reunion. Dave corrected people in the presser, saying it was a new band, but before that, nearly everyone reporting was calling it a reunion. Whatever Mike read about it was no different than what anyone else read.
And yes, the 2004 tour WAS a reunion. Call it Van Halen, or Van Hagar, the FACT remains is, that was a complete band reunited. The exact same members that were together for over 10 years reunited for a tour. How can that be anything else BUT a reunion. Might not have been the one you wanted to see, but a reunion it was, by every definition of the word.

3. He said nothing bad about Dave. He spoke the truth....Dave DOES become Diamond Dave on stage. Who would ever argue against that?

I guess I'm always wrong but as I said before it's only opinion. How can the 04 tour be a full VH reunion without Dave? It wasn't the REAL VH. Eddie wanted Dave to tour with VH and Hagar in 04 and Dave said no. Eddie wanted Dave and his band to be the opener and then have Dave come on stage with VH and do some CVH. They would have called the tour The Best Of Both Worlds. I can see why Dave wouldn't want to open for Van Hagar. Kind of a insult to him. After watching the bootlegs I think Dave made the right decision.

Where the hell did you hear that BS from? I'd like to see a link to a credible source. I've NEVER read ANYWHERE, that Eddie wanted Dave to tour with VH in 04.

Show me a quote from Eddie saying it's true.....but I know you can't, because it's not.

Eddie didn't publicly talk about it. I found out through Daves old drummer Ray Luzier. There is no link. Believe me or not its the truth.

OK, my friend, you are always wanting "proof" of anything here you do not agree with. Now you make this claim about Roth's drummer - no link, no way to verify. Maybe this person would not appreciate your throwing his name around on something like this. In the grand scheme of things, what difference does it make anyway?

It was discussed at their forum but since then they replaced the vBulletin forum software with a open source software all of the old post are gone and the link is gone. If you ask someone there they might tell you.

BTW, since you have connections, perhaps you can verify a rumor going around that EVH has fired (imagine that) one of his longtime guitar techs AND a strong hint that there is trouble brewing (imagine that) in the VH camp.

Guys,

Changes to rig are new head/cab/speakers, new guitar (still in proto phase), original whammy pedal, and new EVH dunlop wah (still in proto phase).
Removed are the Demeter trem and Line 6 rack delay (never used anyway).

As for his flanger and phaser sound there is simply no secret. His settings are nothing unusual. Its all in his right hand. He hits very hard and that drives the pedals hard. Thats it.

Peter, not sure about Denver. Keep an eye on website. An early itinerary I have says Denver is possible early next year.

As for me, I'm done for good with EVH as of a couple days ago.
I have never spoken publicly about who EVH really is and what his behavior is really like. Plain and simple, I have absolutely nothing nice to say about the man. I could easily lay the truth down but I'll take the high road, like the very class act Michael Anthony and wish him best of luck with his tour and issues.

Like I said before,it's like being a Lions fan. One week the coach might call stupid plays and I'll say negative stuff about him. The next week they might fumble the ball and throw a few interceptions and I'll feel like smashing my TV but I still love the team and someday they will get to the Superbowl.
