Was a Reunion tour offered?

Postby bionic » Sun Sep 09, 2007 5:13 pm

Much like Black Sabbath,Van Halen,Kiss and now Led Zeppelin promoters are always offering bands money to reform classic line ups.
Makes you wonder if this offer has been put to Journey as of recent, now i am damn sure that if it was Neal And Jon would jump at the chance to regain some cred.Ross probably does not care as long as he gets paid and can pull stupid faces he is happy!
So i can only assume that Perry has decided for whatever reason that this is not going to happen,we all know how much Perry cares about the name(Dont crack the Stone) so for him to not return and save the bands arses is indeed a sad time for this ONCE great band. :(

The band would jump on Perry returning in a heartbeat. Steve Perry however, does not want to go down that road.

i wonder one thing.if perry was offered an insane amount of money like about 20 or 30 million would he do it one final time.when kiss reformed on the reunion tour there were reports that stanley and simmons pocketed 30 or 35 apiece just on that tour.

Money talks, but he has to be able to pull off some stunning vocals from his past,as much as he would love to bring Journey to a happy end he has to be able do the songs of old justice and that is were the answer lies i belive 8)

In all seriousness, Perry doesn't need a red cent. He's set for life....literally millions in the bank. I don't think money *could* motivate him. There used to be jokes within the journey camp on how there's a handful of checks (you know, the cut he takes from everything Journey does) that Nomota has sent to Perry....that Perry hasn't even bothered cashing. He's just got em piled up on his kitchen pass-through or in a draw in his office....If he doesn't even cash the checks Journey sends him, why would a significant increase in the value of those checks make an ounce of difference.

He doesn't have 5 alimony checks to sign every month and reportedly lives within his means.....he doesn't take the mere 100,000 dollar merch check that they get at the end of a tour and disappear, blowing through the check in 3 months....on various things us average folks don't need or shouldn't buy.

I'm not going to pretend to know what motives Perry these days...and anyone else that posts on this board, hasn't the foggiest either....because no one, including certain people here that have the inside track to Perry's hall of mirrors, has been able to satisfactorily explain Perry's reasons for what he's done in the past.

Put it this way...if I were Perry....and if money weren't a deciding factor (like it isn't with him), I wouldn't bother returning to Journey at this point EITHER. Why would I subject myself to the bullshit that constantly surrounds Friga....or have to deal with the Napoleonic complex that Neal has....or be subject to misguidance at the hands of Irving Assoff??!

And last, but certainly not least, by any stretch....why would I resurface...only to embolden and drudge up the most psycopathic, obsessive/compuslive, intrusive fans in the world. Face it, Journey fans (specifically Loons) are fucked up people. Perry hasn't been seen in public (in a musical context, forget that White Sox bullshit) for over 10 years....and still Loons raise the man up on some angelic pedastal....desperate to see the return of the messiah....embarassing *real* Journey fans for the past decade with their unparalleled obsessiveness. Why on earth would Perry return to bring all of these kooks out of the woodwork.

For crying out loud.....Perry's been gone from Journey for 11 years, 10 years before that, also gone.....and only now, the loon factor has dropped to a level that only gives me a headache every other time I read a fucking Journey board. Holy Shit, can some of you ( that aren't loon psychopaths) imagine what would happen if Perry came back and said "We're going on tour!"......This place, my fucking board, The google Joey Reardon express and countless other web forums with explode with an idiocy that would have been unmatched since the french revolution.....anything Journey would be unbearable!

Christ, I'm getting sick to my stomach even thinking about it....

Between the disgrace that Neal and Jon have made of the Journey name and the way the people on the Journey messageboards have tried for the last 10 years to smear Perry's name, why the hell would he want to offer himself up in sacrifice?

It's got to be a bit of a mixed message that he's getting from the "fans" to say the least. It's like "We hate you you sonofabitch. We think your a liar and a manipulative, egotistical bastard. Now why the fuck won't you sing for us?"

I really think that he knows that it's just a very few forums on the net that put him down, Sherrie. He still gets so much recognition and regard from his peers and the public, even without performing, that he must know he is held in high regard and maybe more so since his efforts have withstood the test of time.

Perry doesn't need to "save" the name of Journey.... because there are TWO versions of Journey now... the one we all bitch about, and the one everyone remembers as the Perry-fronted version...

In fact... by saying what he said in June of this year ( http://www.fanasylum.com/steveperry/ ) he pretty much is separating himself and the Perry-era legacy from the current circus. Rejoining would only bury the "in-between" years and dilute his legend.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

He probably didn't cash those checks because someone called and said.."Steve, please don't cash that check, it may bounce."
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

AMEN!!!!
As a ''LOON''? Is that what you call it?
I have never felt that Mr. Perry should do anything he didn't want to do, that goes for anyone!!
He is a very intelligent person, and knows what and how to do things successfully. I personally, think
he enjoys the attention. What red-blooded American man wouldn't?

Let me add one more thing..
There is sooooo much he can offer the new and upcoming artists, the ones that really
have a passion for music, and I think, personally, that is where he should focus his attentions now..JMO!

Yes. Suck it up and do it for the fans. Kind of like we do when we buy the same repackaged shit time after time (GH, GH remastered, and The Essential Journey are basically the same thing). Can't wait for The Essential Journey to be remastered.

Look who's talking.

If the shoe fits, you need to wear it SF!

I'm not part of the group of fans...(fuck I'm not even a fan of this band anymore)....that has spent the past 10 years pining for the return of a retired man just desperate to get away from psychos like yourself, hots and others...Face it. The messiah has left the building...he's not coming back. If you have a disease you want him to cure, you missed your chance back in 1986!
