Martha(that would be as in Stewart :P) says they're Polish. She made them one day on her show and I wondered if they were as good as our Moon Lady's.

Yeah, but Russian's and Ukrainian's do make them too. My friend comes from a Ukranian family and she makes them homemade too, but unfortunately lives too far away to make them for me :(

They must be a regional rather than specifically a Polish dish. I'll have to ask PF about her recipe and try hers as well as Moon Lady's.

As a one time student of Anthropology, the answer is easy. It is an Eastern European dish, its origins are actually in Byzantium and they slowly made their way northwest into Europe along with various conquests from those lands.

Actually, my major was Archaeology but my Dad said that was a silly thing that would never support me.

Seeing Chalfant will be awesome

Possibly meeting Mac will be cool

And meeting folks from here like SJ, NIG, Moonie and the rest of crew.

It should be a good time. I'll be dragging along my son and Applebee's so it should be a blast.

I'm looking forward to it.

Hahaha... actually, you get out of it what you put in, as with everything. Is she a grad student or just finishing undergrad? Because if she can find a good fellowship somewhere and finish her PhD with one hell of a dissertation, then she might make a decent living as a professor. But those who actually get out and dig (my thing) don't make much.

A buddy of mine is the head of the Archaeology dept. at the Univ of Jerusalem and he pockets $17k a year.

She's dual major History/Anthropology, looking into graduate programs in Europe. But she is leaning toward professorship, which is probably her only hope of a decent income. Did you just say $17k?

Good for her. I was Archaeology major w/ my concentration in Theosophical & Linguistics. My minor was Environmental Sciences. I couldn't make up my mind about squat. Hence why I'm in radio today.

And do you harbor feelings of resentment and perhaps a deep seeded fear of intimacy because your degree wouldn't support you? Lie down on my giant couch and tell me how that makes you feel while I pretend to take notes when in actuality I'm scribbling down in my crossword a four letter word that rhymes with 'dick'.

Mine look similar to these.....

they are flour dough pockets filled with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese.
You fry them in bacon and onions and dip them in sour cream.
Some folks like em with sauerkraut.

Thank you kindly for the kind words folks. :D

Getting off topic here, but my husband made some OUTSTANDING perogies yesterday! I of course had to tease him because he was cooking while I was watching the Bears game! My husband is a much better cook than I am, and he enjoys it. I didn't mind cleaning up the disaster he made of the kitchen after I ate those perogies!

Wow a fella that puts all that work into making Perogies?, he has my respect.
Do you fancy em with or without Sour Cream jrnychick?

1) Meet up with the people I met at The Melee
2) Meet those I haven't met yet
3) Get shitfaced, enjoy some cool acts, trash the hotel, make an ass of myself (per usual) and come home.

Uh, no. This is a chick, not food. For those paying attention from some time ago, it's the chick from Applebee's from a year ago that has come together. Hopefully you'll get a chance to meet her and give me your read.

On the other hand, if you're hungry I'm willing to pick food up on the way.

Sorry y'all...it DOESN'T look like I'm gonna make it. Can't afford the plane ticket (or any other ticket for that matter).
Trust me when I say I'll be kicking myself in the ass for the rest of my life on this one. I HATE that I won't be there to meet all you crazy fuckers and get you all shitfaced. My apologies.

Liam, drive and meet me in Nashville, ride up the rest of the way with me. If your vehicle is a 6-cylinder then you're looking at 2.5 tanks of gas. Thats less than a plane ticket. (Of course, I don't know where the hell in TX you are, I'm judging my distance for you from Dallas area.)

C'mon, there's always a way.

I don't think so... his vehicle is shady. :(
Maybe if we write Sally Struthers and tell him he's a starving third world child who needs a visit to South Bend, IN so he can see Touchdown Jesus... maybe she'll waddle out there and do some commercials to raise awareness.

There's always a way, Liam. Go to a truck stop and take up "Lot-Lizarding". Just get there, bitch.
