Martha(that would be as in Stewart) says they're Polish. She made them one day on her show and I wondered if they were as good as our Moon Lady's.

Yeah, but Russian's and Ukrainian's do make them too. My friend comes from a Ukranian family and she makes them homemade too, but unfortunately lives too far away to make them for me

As a one time student of Anthropology, the answer is easy. It is an Eastern European dish, its origins are actually in Byzantium and they slowly made their way northwest into Europe along with various conquests from those lands.
Actually, my major was Archaeology but my Dad said that was a silly thing that would never support me.

My daughter will find out in May if it will support her.

Hahaha... actually, you get out of it what you put in, as with everything. Is she a grad student or just finishing undergrad? Because if she can find a good fellowship somewhere and finish her PhD with one hell of a dissertation, then she might make a decent living as a professor. But those who actually get out and dig (my thing) don't make much.
A buddy of mine is the head of the Archaeology dept. at the Univ of Jerusalem and he pockets $17k a year.
JH'sTXfan wrote:She's dual major History/Anthropology, looking into graduate programs in Europe. But she is leaning toward professorship, which is probably her only hope of a decent income.

And meeting folks from here like SJ, NIG, Moonie and the rest of crew.
It should be a good time. I'll be dragging along my son and Applebee's so it should be a blast.
I'm looking forward to it.

Mine look similar to these.....
they are flour dough pockets filled with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese.
You fry them in bacon and onions and dip them in sour cream.
Some folks like em with sauerkraut.
Thank you kindly for the kind words folks.

Aaron wrote:Uh, no. This is a chick, not food. For those paying attention from some time ago, it's the chick from Applebee's from a year ago that has come together. Hopefully you'll get a chance to meet her and give me your read.
On the other hand, if you're hungry I'm willing to pick food up on the way.
