New MP3´s in Official Europe-Webshop

Postby IngoK » Wed Sep 12, 2007 12:32 am

Received this info via the official Europe newsletter:

Hello everyone,

We have now recovered from the Dalhalla weekend and the heavy partying the last night/morning......and we have some news for you guys.
We have listened through the show and decided to release 12 songs from the second night at Dalhalla as mp3's on our website.
We had a great time and we want you to be able to check it out for yourselves.
We hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as we enjoyed performing them

All the best.
Joey, John, John, Mic and Ian

I can't believe they're selling these for basically the price of a CD.

I mean, it's a cool idea, but a quickly mixed (if at all mixed) recording that the band itself admits is basically a raw, unpolished soundboard feed really isn't worth much (at least not in mp3 quality). They should really be giving this away or charging a nominal fee to cover the web server costs, given that the recording cost them virtually nothing to produce and is just a "for shits and giggles" type release.

(of course, I also think they should be giving away free DVD's of another show to anyone who bought 'Live From The Dark' without realizing how poorly filmed it is  )

With all honesty, many of their fans have been begging for a live CD. If they do it this way, there is extremely low cost to the band, they can probably get more product out to the fans if they want, and most fans are happy with the end result.

BTW... totally agree with the statement about how LFTD was recorded.

I´m happy with the final result. Ther´s no other way to get on the official way live recordings from the band. But of course a little bit cheaper would be better.

But definately better than nothing. Would appreciate if other bands would do it too.

But the fans were given a live CD when they purchased the live DVD from the Start from the Dark album. I certainly got the audio with my DVD and for the standard DVD price!? Mind you I can probably retract that comment as I would kill for a true live audio of recent material, Secret Society still rules
