Si. He smells really good, BTW.

Oh man... I miss Adam so much. I'll never forget the first time I met him. It was like 1990 or so, I was a little girl, he was about 10... it was at Bristol for the Spring race. That year it was brutally cold, and I had lost my jacket somewhere. So Adam helped me look for it and when it couldn't be found he gave me one of his sweatshirts sitting back at the hauler, emblazoned with a big "Mello Yello" logo (gee I wonder why). I cherished that thing. He was one of the nicest people you'd ever know.
As for the next generation (I guess this is generation #4 we're speaking of)...
Justin (Labonte) is back around here now racing late models at the dirt tracks. Doubt he'll race Nascar.
Stephen (Wallace) races Rusty's busch car and just turned 20. It will be a few years before he's considerably Cup material.
Ricky (Hendrick) will always be missed as much as Adam, but his daughter is the cutest little thing, she just turned two.
While we're on the subject, feel free to donate to the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Adam's memory!!![]()

Dude, you should give it a chance. A Helluva lot better than NFL.

I can up ya on this...
-My Daddy was on various pit crews when I was a kid.
-Not to mention my families ties with the birth of the 'sport'.
-I've lived back and forth between my hometown (in VA) and Mooresville (the hub for everything) going on 15 years.
-I am friends with or at least know on a personal basis with most of the drivers. Cause there are plenty I hate, and they know it.
....Actually, I'm so close in that I can't honestly have a favorite driver. It wouldn't be fair, its like choosing your favorite cousin. You can have a favorite, but someone's going to get their feelings hurt.
Races I attend each year: (Busch, Cup, and sometimes Truck)
Both Daytona
Both Bristol
Both Charlotte
Both Martinsville
Both Richmond
Talladega
Dover
Pocono
Darlington
...I used to go to more, but they took the fucking races out of the good track because it wasn't "Pop Cultured" enough. (North Wilkesboro, Rockingham, Myrtle Beach [Busch], and here's a throw back... Lonesome Pine.)
I've got it BAD, but then again, its for the most part my life. I even used to work at DEI & Roush. Now in radio I deal with all our MRN & PRN stuff. God, I love racin.

That's just so nuts. Your record before the final 10 should factor in (more than it does, actually), but then it should be all about going for the wins.
I HATE points racing with a passion (in case it wasn't obvious, lol).

I agree with you....and JJ does race for points. I think he is smart enough to know that is the smart move. However, last year, he did have more wins than anyone prior to the chase and ended up winning more than anyone, so last year it worked out I guess.

I AGREE. I know safety is a beautiful thing, but I miss the days of watching someone go nose-to-tail down the backstretch.

You can go to Churchill Downs, Belmont, Arlington, Laurel Park, Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Del Mar, Pimlico, Saratoga and Louisiana Fairgrounds to see that. I LOVE horse racing. That's a cool sport folks. Talk about strategy. Horses for the course, surfaces, turf to dirt angles, speed horses vs routers, raters, Beyers, speed ratings, jockey selection, race selection, etc. Takes a fairly knowledgeable person to play the ponies and read the Racing Form.

I won $13,000 last year at Del Mar.

Maybe you didn't mean it directly with the Nose-to-tail/Horse racing reference, but in any case, that's a great analogy.
SteveForever wrote:Dean, I'm kidding. I was there, but I lost all the money I took, I still had fun though, and those jockeys are rockstars! I love to watch them come out of that back area and everyone claps.
