"The SEC continues to lead the nation in team's ranked this week with six. In this week's USA Today Coaches' Poll, LSU is second, Florida third, South Carolina 14th, Alabama 20th, Georgia 21st and Kentucky 23rd. Already this season, nine different SEC teams have been ranked in the major wire service polls."

You stake claim to the importance of rankings?

Um,

Louisville
Michigan
UCLA
Auburn......they were all ranked highly, and they are all not worthy.

Well, Deano the rankings are what decides whos playing in the BCS so they are very important. Not always credible but this is the system we have right now. Anyway, GO GATORS!!! CHOMPIN THRU THE NATION....AGAIN!!!!

Um, no, rankings are NOT what decides who plays in the BCS....

BCS rankings, which do not come out for 3 weeks, is what decides what. The rankings by AP and the Coaches are garbage. Get your shit right before you run your mouth.

Rankings is what we are talking about Deano, whether it be the AP,the USA Today, or the BCS. And your place in the AP does have a small part in the first BCS poll. My shit is straight partner, I come from the greatest sports conference in the land and we damn well know what the BCS is because the SEC normally rule it. Run my mouth??? Pot, meet kettle.....

Dude, I am trying to tell you, that most of these college fb teams that are ranked at the beginning of the uyear is complete bullshit. Tell me Michigan and Auburn deserve to be ranked, at all? They are ranked every year because of who they are. Nebraska, UCLA, and Notre Dame, same thing.

True, AP rankings play a small part in a team's BCS ranking, but it's the 6th week AP ranking that matters.

PS, greatest sports conference in the land? Hardly.

Go Google College sport championships, and come back and tell me who the Conference of Champions is. Tell me what Conference has won the most NCAA championships. I'll save you the trouble, because you probably can't Google, nor read....It's the PAC10.

thats right, i cant read....take the Tennessee vs. Cal game away, which obviously this is a down year for UT who is normally a very dominating team and Im sure others on here would agree with that and I would take my beloved SEC against the PATHETIC pac 10 any day of the week. Dont take it personally, our talent level down here is far superior to anywhere else in the nation. Heres a trivia question for you Deano-what conference has the most NC's since 1990? Since you probably cannot google Ill tell you-the SEC, Alabama in 1992, Florida in 1996, Tennessee in 1998, LSU in 2002(I think it was 02), and then again Florida in 2006. And lets not forget that UNDEFEATED Auburn team in 2004(I think 04) that went undefeated and got ass-screwed from the BCS title game and would have won that title outright that year. The pac10 has one thing going for it that the SEC doesnt-the media kisses its ass and the SEC just has to go out year in, year out and do it the hard way, we earn it. I understand you are a pac10 guy, I respect that. I am an SEC guy, deep down into my Gator heart. I have a beautiful degree framed on my wall that pledges my allegiance to that conference and my daughters will have that also, in a blue and orange frame. Maybe Florida will meet USC this season, who knows? Take it from Ohio State though, USC better hope not. Our speed and athletisicm will overwhelm pete carroll, just like it did jim tressel.

Haha. Ok Mr SEC cheerleader. I was talking football and all other sports. I went to school at a PAC10 school, and I can tell you this: We have won more championships than any other conference and I can assure you our schools are head and shoulders are above the SEC's. With the exception of Vandy, your schools suck, period.

In the past 10 years, the SEC has been the best (toughest) conference for sure.

The PAC 10 is showing a lot of talent this year, while the SEC is slacking for sure. The Vols and Miss. State checked out already.

I want to know what happened to the old powerhouses like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Penn State, Michigan, AND TN. Have offensive and defensive schemes changed that much over the years? Am I really THAT old?

The game of the year for me will be FL and LSU - who will probably play twice once the SEC Championship game gets here.

Then it will be USC vs the winner of that game.

All in all, despite the disappointed season certain teams are having, this is already one of the most entertaining years of College ball I can recall.

And I enjoy entertainment.

Knox, put the bottle down.

First off Miss St sucks every year, but they just beat Auburn in Auburn. Goodbye Auburn. Tennessee sucks ass.

As for your other teams, Texas and Nebraska are decent at best. Michigan is horrible, and Penn St is tough.

IMO, there are a handful of good clubs:

USC
LSU
Florida
Oklahoma
W VA

then

Wisconsin
Cal

everyone else not named Notre dame and Michigan

then

Notre Dame and Michigan.

Deano, I can't disagree with anything you said.

I never make excuses anymore about TN. You either win, or you lose. If you win, you deserve it. If you lose, you deserved to lose.

College Football is heads and shoulders above NFL. Bigger crowds, louder, more fun, every game means something. Pro ball blows.

Who is on the edge of their seat tonight? This is a terrible game.

Time to turn off now and meet the Sandman, though. My eyes are getting heavy and my brain is clouding over.

No. Why do we need a bunch of Missippi's, Mississippi States, Vanderbilts, and Tennessee's?

Don't even pimp Alabama. You beat a very average Arkansas team, barely.

I'm not ready to say USC is better than us yet. They struggled in their first game, which was supposed to be a blow-out as we did against Troy, yet plays Nebraska and wins convincingly, as we did with Tennessee. Right now i'll call them even, if anything. I would rather have Tebow over Booty anytime leading my team. Once that defense matures a wee bit more we are going to be scary.

Urban Meyer is literally building a dynasty. With FSU and Miami no longer a part of the recruiting wars, he's getting ALL of the talent in Florida. They're loaded with freshman and sophomore starters and will be good for many years to come.

With Ron Zook's players.

Hold off on judgement of Myer's dynastic abililities until we see, like w/ Charlie Weiss now, Myer's OWN players start to filter in.

You took the words right out of my mouth. That was a nice story last Saturday on Urban Meyer and the family atmosphere he brings to practices. He lets the coaches bring their kids and get to know the players. He says helps make the players less homesick.

Unfortunately zooks last recruiting classes are not represented more than a couple of players. The biggest name is Bubba Caldwell, but everyone else is Urban's guys. He has had the #1 and #2 recruiting classes the last 2 years straight. Zooks boys pretty much finished last season.
