2 obscure Journey classics...

Postby ScarabGator » Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:39 pm

Its Just the Rain and Happy to Give. These songs are just about great for any mood or feeling. Man, I could put just these 2 songs on a CD, hit repeat, and let them play for hours.....

Two of my favorites too. Had they received radio play, they would have been huge hits. IMO.

Are you two high? I like the songs, but no way are they radio friendly.

Great songs...that's what I like about Journey past - there are so many different moods.

trivia info: "Happy to Give" is Cain's favorite song sung by Perry.

Go figure.

Happy To Give is OK, but IJTR is as sappy as they get, a complete throw away, in my opinion. Not even worthy of a B side.

That may be your opinion, but after listening to this tune a few times how in the world could you keep from singing along???

Scarabgator - I'm with you all the way on these criminally underrated Journey classics. Two of Perry's finest ever performances....

Yup! In '86 that could have rivaled Open Arms as a power ballad classic.

I think so too... I know its kind of fruity, and my tastes lean towards the Infinity-Departure Era. But H2G is such a beautiful tune, could at least have been a good song in a movie. Think of it superimposed over the diner scene in "When Harry Met Sally".

Yes. Hits are usually specific to time periods. Open Arms is one of the worst songs I've ever heard, but at that specific time, contrived, sappy ballads could sell. At NO other time would that song have been popular.

Anything off the first three albums is both better, and more underrated than crap like HTG or ITJTR.

Sorry but Just the Rain IMO should have ABSOLUTELY been left in the vault.

Terribly weak song that made me feel like they just needed 1 more song to fill up the album and the creative juices simply had run dry......

Happy to Give is at least passable to make the album....

Although it has been played to death, it is a great ballad. No one else would have made that song so good. Even though we disagree on Open Arms, I still love ya and can't wait to see you in SB...
