It's actually a camel through the eye of a needle. However, the "eye of a needle" referred to is a low, small doorway, not the actual eye of a needle like we think of it. Besides that, the Bible, says that is a sin to "want" to be rich, not to be rich in and of itself. The "love" of money is the root of all evil, not money itself.

Honestly, I don't care one way or another if someone is rich. What I despise is when people use their wealth as a tool. Such as when they use their wealth to sway a court of law or a college into accepting their kid. That kind of thing is wrong on all levels.

Trashing the wealthy? Hardly. I say good for you if you are rich. Just remember, the poorest people also pay taxes so the rich people can drive on nice roads, go to nice airports, have nice parks, etc etc. The poorest of people also go to the Military to fight for this fucking country...what's so fucking bad about wanting everyone to have the chance to be healthy? Looks to me that the only trashing going on is the rich dumping theirs on the poor.

Dude the top 50% of taxpayers pay over 96% of total federal taxes. The poor are pretty much getting a free ride!
They pay it ..because they can....and look how much they still have when there through paying .....It's like you buying someone a beer....doesn't hurt them a bit...and remeber we are the backs they make it off of.

Or get their sons out of of the Military. See George W Bush, Sean Hannity, Dick Cheney, and Paul Wolfowitz. These guys LOVE war and tank battles, but only from the sidelines.

Before you clowns come in here and say it, Bill Clinton didn't serve either, but dude isn't running around wanting to see round one of Desert Storm or Operation Freedom or whatever the Hell the Bush Govt calls these BS wars. Clinton was a conscientious objector to Vietnam. That's why he went to Oxford. The others mentioned weren't objecting at all. They just were too cowardly to go fight for the country they "believe in." They're pieces of shit..all of them. Yet they will mock John Kerry, who received three purple hearts and VOLUNTEERED to go to Vietnam. Yeah Swift Boat Veterans for the truth is a real winner

I heard SOMEWHERE (maybe on Larry King) that OJ was thinking about doing this "sting" and bringing his own video camera, taking film, and then selling it as an episode on reality TV somewhere. This whole caper is very strange. I hope nobody else gets killed.

P.S. Dave, I have been dying to ask re: God's plan: the people (including children) in Rwanda or Darfur that are tortured let's say and murdered--do you think they think this is part of God's plan for them? How do you reconcile this with your "God's plan" thing? I would be very curious what they would say to your "this is God's plan" thing to them and how this would comfort them. Don't say that they are heretics or something because a lot of these people are religious. Please don't presume that because you declare this to be so that everyone feels this way. Sorry to sound mean, but I feel offended for these unfortunate people by this kind of talk.

You're right. Clinton thought blow jobs and womanizing were more important than the desert Arabs running training camps in the Afghan desert. He also found our soldiers being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu, our embassies being obliterated, the U.S.S. Cole being "remodeled" and the first WTC attack to be "BS" too.

Kerry's service in Vietnam was nothing more than a resume-building field trip. He went there, camera in tow, with Presidential aspirations already in mind, and then got out as quickly as possible. There's a reason that Kerry hasn't agreed to make all his military records public and that's because it would show him to be the sham that he is.

Ok, so when something happens to you, I'll remember you saying so proudly, "you don't see me bitching." That is a ridiculous statement. Fine, don't bitch, but when something bad does happen(I am not hoping it does but it could), don't bitch then either.

There are options for people without it, and among those things is one called: "common sense.

You think "common sense" keeps people from getting cancer, getting in car accidents, having heart problems? Think again. The human body breaks down. medicine exists because of that alone.

How fucking stupid is this statement?

No, now I knew I'd have to explain this. For me, myself, at my age, the most common health problems are preventable. That's what I meant by common sense. And no, I don't bitch because I don't have insurance because that is just the way my life is right now. It sounds rediculous but so be it, its just my disposition.

BS!!! It's not difficult to stay out of "poverty" in America. Finish high school, don't have kids before getting married and your pretty much cleared it. Think back to high school and all the idiots who did nothing in class but screw off. They made their choice, I don't want to pay for them now!

Wow, I switch to another thread and there you go again, perhaps one of the most naive comments so far - what microcosm of a gated community do you live in - the set for Desperate Housewives? You sound like Bree Vandercamp

Gated community? Hardly. Don't watch D.H.
You saying having dropping out of school and having kids out of wedlock isn't a ticket into poverty?

You just cannot generalise like that. Where is the choice of the individual? Some of the most determined and successful people in the UK came from the most impoverished backgrounds. They, by default, 'dropped out of school'.

I have twin 4 year old girls OUT OF WEDLOCK. They are beautiful, well behaved children who are loved. How can you infer that children out of wedlock are somehow inferior? Get a grip.

I have a successful graphic design agency. I own my house outright. I have no debt. I have no criminal record. I suppose in your eyes I'm damned all the way to hell?

Listen to your self. Life, my friend is a little more sophisticated.

What is it with the hysterical right wing that you have to put people in boxes and there is only YOUR way of doing things. Go on find me another statistic. 74% of them are made up anyway.

I said that dropping out of school increases the odds of a life of poverty. Not the other way around like you infer.
Marc S wrote:You just cannot generalise like that. Where is the choice of the individual?

I referred to that earlier in the thread saying something along the lines of "they made their choice, I shouldn't have to pay for them now"
Marc S wrote:I have twin 4 year old girls OUT OF WEDLOCK. They are beautiful, well behaved children who are loved. How can you infer that children out of wedlock are somehow inferior? Get a grip.

Where did I say they were inferior? Do you live with them? Are you a father figure to them? That's the important part, what I was referring to was the plague here in America of men impregnating women and disappearing which more than likely=poverty and crime.
Marc S wrote:I have a successful graphic design agency. I own my house outright. I have no debt. I have no criminal record. I suppose in your eyes I'm damned all the way to hell?

Congratulations. I still have a mortgage in my gated community  No idea what the damned to hell comment means.

The statistics I care about regard the U.S. When I want info on England or Europe I'll be sure to clear it with you first, okay?

Hi all, just got home from work. I'm glad to see that this is still going. I'm not throwing my hat in tonight as it is my Friday, and I'm setting about getting trashed. My comments barely make sense sober anyway. I say everyone have a beer and lets all shake hands and become one with ourselves.

I like to think of it as "civil debate". Arguing usually involves namecalling and such. I usually save that for the wife!!!
