He got whacked by Kevin Cronin which neutered REO Speedwagon. I'll never go to another REO show.

Dave Amato is a great player also. REO was well on the way to being neutered even with Richrath in the band. Their 80s stuff was becoming more and more pop and less rock.

True but Cronin finally wrestled complete control of the band from Richrath in the 80's and was completed with his firing. It's over now!

From all accounts, Richrath was completely out of control with drugs or alcohol while the other guys had gotten it together. For awhle in the 90s, though, I thought they were on the verge of asking Richrath to come back to the band. Too bad that didn't happen.

I know, I remember reading that he was supposed to write new material with the band. That was before their BTM episode. I think Richrath's song "Tragedy" off his solo cd is better than anything on the whopping 3 cd's the band has put out w/o him. Even though the guy singing on the solo cd sucked. Great classic REO guitar sound!!!

Jimi Hendrix was quoted as saying that Kath was the one guy that scared him....pretty serious words, considering the source.

He was a stunningly amazing guitarist...

well, I dunno....Randy never did it for me...In fact, I prefer Jake and Zakk over Randy....

Not to say the guy wasn't amazing and had his followers...I just never took to his playing.

Same goes for Vai. Never took to him...cant deny his amazing ability....just never raised the hair on my arms like he did for others...
