Congrats Arnel! While he wasnt my favorite choice I will hold my judgement until after hearing him with the band and some really good equipment. I am actually getting excited about the potential here for Journey.

In spite of all that has been said, and with all due respect, congratulations Arnel. I'll give this lineup a shot as I did with the others. To my ears, Arnel certainly has the best vocal range of any singer Journey has had since Steve Perry.

You never know, Journey may find themselves in a pretty good position from this. But if a county fair is where I would have to go to see them then a county fair I shall go to!!!

Well I wish Arnel the best of luck. From the clips I have listened to.. I think he is very talented.

I just hope he has his bases covered when it comes to Journey and their fickle business decisions.

If this is the case then i agree, for Arnel its a great opportunity and fair play to him getting the job..
However as of Journey well for me they are just a caricature and a parody of a once great rock band..

Its all become a bit of a joke...

But for Arnel i wish him the best of luck.

Bullshit!

Postby bobrod » Wed Sep 26, 2007 10:44 pm

Congrats nothing! This is a joke! This is f'in' Journey we're talking about here! A band that has now forever tarnished their image. Just pick any old kid out of nowhere and put him in a legendary band like this! It will do nothing! They will be playing clubs from now on! I will have absolutely nothing more to do with this band that I loved as a kid and a young adult. NOTHING! F**K them!!!!

For those who are gonna slam me about these comments, look, this is how I truly feel about this. It sucks! Journey either needs to rename themselves or pack it up. This is beyond ridiculous. It's just downright sad. Journey is DEAD!!!!

Arnel seems like a good guy and this is certainly an exciting opportunity for him - so congrats to him. As for Journey, you're dead to me. What's really going to be a joke is when they try charging $75 a ticket.

Is it just me, or does anyone else now wish Steve Perry had just refused to let go of the name Journey? It sure would have saved them (and us) a lot of embarrassment.

As the guy has the required vocal range and the rest of the guys can do the writing process I don´t see the problem here?

Many of us have been wishing that for a long, long time...but in the last year I've become undecided on the issue....

Stamina

Postby Muggins » Wed Sep 26, 2007 11:28 pm

Look people. It's not about whether a person can be the best Perry imperonator, as Augeri proved his worth and did them proud. The bigger issue here is whether the kid can do 90 tour dates or more and has the stamina. That's why Soto was such a good choice, as he's got the experience. It's also about stage presence and working an audience, which many frontmen just can't do. Again, another reason why Soto was a good choice. I wish ths kid all the luck in the world, but he's got to be careful and learn a lesson from dear Mr. Soto, as he was stabbed in the back for no apparent reason. Augeri was sacked because their tour schedule was killing his voice, so look out kid and make the most of it.

If I could give any advice, it would be to work on your stage prescence as we've just experienced Soto and he's a hard act to follow. You've got the voice, but that isn't everything. It's about charisma and showmanship. Just take it easy and be careful, as the moment you show any sign of weekness in your voice, they will drop you in a heartbeat and get another impersonator to take your place, as let's face it, there are a lot out there who could do the job... in short bursts anyway! All auditioned and ready to go!

I still think getting rid of Soto was a big mistake for them to make, but I'm also glad that he's solo again and not being held back as his new show rocks! He's the guy to keep an eye on. Journey would have made an incredible album with him and it is an insult that they never gave Soto the chance.

Fully agree with your post. And I'll probably have a listen, but I'm done putting money in Journey's pocket. Besides there is no way their shows could be any funner than JSSB's!
