This has to be one of the most dispiriting threads I've come across in a long time. Chief - you ought to be fucking ashamed of yourself for calling for anyone to be banned - let alone starting a thread about it. Sorry for breaking our ceasefire on this - but I really hate it when people do that.

As for Fyre...yes, he's eccentric and he can be annoying and relentless - like many of us can be here - but he is still one of the great characters on the forums and regularly offers a refreshingly different take on things from the usual mob-like chatter that dominates the conversation. Yes, some of his posts are barking mad - but most of the time he is absolutely right. And he is spot on about this racism issue.

Look I've detested political correctness for years now and policies like affirmative actiion make my blood boil because it's all about race and not about merit. For all the rationalistions being offered up here - the fact is: this is affirmative action in reverse. You don't want Arnel in Journey because he's Asian. Simple as that. I don't know if this is some weird "gook" phobia which stems from America's humiliation in Vietnam or whether you all live in some backwater where everyone looks the same or whether supporting Journey represents some flag-waving exercise for you but whatever the reason the majority of the humourless and negative posts about Arnel have the nasty, small-minded tone of the provincial bigot.

Some jokes have been very funny it has to be said. Like Strangegrey's signature photo on TBJF. So I'm not saying for a second that we ought to be solemn about this move Journey are making - which is an unusual move for them to make, to be sure. But in terms of the picture I'm getting of America from a number of posters here...well, let's just say you're doing the image of your country abroad no favours at all. Not that you care about that, I imagine...

Anyway - back to Fyre. There's just no way on earth this guy deserves to be banned and the fact that we're even having a conversation about it is completely ridiculous. So I guess I'd better shut the fuck up now.
