A most excellent answer! :D

I'm looking forward to the day the nosebleed seats are the only thing available and we'll be able to say, "Remember when Jeff did the small venue tour, we were right up front, then!"

You GO, Jeff! :D

Right, since he departed from Journey he's flying high, wouldn't it have not been a better plan to chart his own individual career rather than heading for the so called dream job as THE replacement singer. Look at all the Albums Behshad in your signature, for fuck's sake why leave all that behind to become not even the main person in a group :?

I love JSS and have already tried to help him out by hooking him up with one of my customers who owns Megaforce records. That being said, I think that what SJ said unfortunately is a possibility. I for one would love to see Jeff prove him and the other naysayers wrong, but we all need to step back and look at it as a possibility. I am not now nor have I ever from day 1 dissed Jeff's abilities or his desire. I am just looking at all possible scenarios and SJ's IS 1 potential outcome.

Answer me this Jeff, because it baffles the fuck out of me.......'If you're so confident in your own ability and I for one don't doubt that one bit, why did you join Journey :?: Regardless of what might have been, don't you think it was a negative move on your part, it's not as if you just survived on youtube and hoped someone would pick up on you, you had and still do have a good core following.....what made you drop everything and jump on the boat. Okay its helped you now reach a slightly bigger audience but I'm guessing you were heading that way anyway. So why join a group on the decline in the first place just to be known as the replacement singer :?:

Jeff pretty much answers this in his statements he made when he joined the band... Most likely Jeff didn't get specifics on the direction the band was going in, just "we need help on the Lepp tour".... He idolized Journey and SP... sort of a "dream gig"....equivalent to the same thing little boys do playing sandlot ball... "2 outs , bottom of the 9th in the 7th game of the World Series"... he comes in and hits a homer... which he DID....

Later, when things were going so well... and JC and NS had time to work out the real direction the band was gonna go in, Jeff became "expendable".

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

The fact is that Journey were a huge influence on Jeff's singing style and songwriting. Even if he was simply going to reproduce Journey's songs on stage it would still have been a mouthwatering prospect for any artist. However, Jeff proved that he was more than capable of injecting new life into those existing songs and taking them to a new level with his performance on stage. That chemistry had massive potential, and when you add Jeff's songwriting abilities to the mix, he would have been crazy not to give it a shot.

Joining an established and well known band doesn't have to mean diminished ambition. When Sammy Hagar joined VH he was a well known singer but not a household name outside of rock circles, but it didn't harm him or the rest of the band. Sometimes the whole becomes more than the sum of the individual parts. And now he is a household name.

He is in this household! :D I don't think my hubby's heard anything but JSS for the last few months. The entire saga, with daily updates and music blasting on the Bose dock as loud as I can get away with.

Ah, life is good! :D :D

Im not trying to answer for Jeff, but my guess is the following:
1)Jeff has been a fan of Journey for a long time. Who wouldnt jump on the opportunity to sing for the band they listened to when they grew up!?
2)In addition to above, the fact that you get to sing for one of the most classic rock bands of US and the publicity you would get for it, would be the second reason.
3) This way , Jeff got a chance to show people that he is who he is and he isnt just the EX YNGWIE singer everyone know him the most for.

Of course he had no idea that he would get backstabbed like this, but as he said a while back in a Q&A, even if he wouldve known that things will go the way they did with Journey, he would still have chosen to sing for them. A dream come true for him regardless of how it ended.

BTW Behshad is NOW my new PR man!! You hit it right on the nail man, to most, the 3 points are obvious here but it's nice to know someone else can detail it to a tee without me having to fix the wrong answer...thanks B!

Jeff- I saw you with Def Lepard and it was fantastic. I had only attended once since Perry. You were really good and able to bring some real excitement. They are over no matter who they get because more and more people know who is in the band and their integrity. If you come to Cincinnati Jeff we will be there ! You are a great entertainer live !

You said it, Larry! What the heck are we waiting for?

I recently bought a new computer - nothing great but it's a BIG step up from my old dead machine that had Windows 98/32 MBs RAM/466 processor! We also finally got DSL connection in our area (deep in the southern corn fields of Columbus). I've got some ability now to work on files and be connected so anytime you're ready!

Do you like Hootie and the Blowfish? I like them in the way of Crowded House. I think their songwriting is great and their guitar work is, too. Simple and highly accessible stuff. I've been listening to them lately and boy do I miss my guitar and mandolin! Anyway, you "heard" Freedom as a potential country song. Why not give it a Hootie or Crowded House-type treatment?

I love tinkering, too. I have a couple boxes of old - and I mean OLD computer parts that I've taken out of machines and have used to keep mine running. Prior to the 466 processor (an upgrade this year, too) I had been using a machine that was a real Sanford & Son special. I had parts in it that I took out of machines I found in dumpsters! It had 2 CD drives/3.5 and 5.25 floppies/2 hard drives. I burned up a couple power supplies and processors with that configuration!

The new machine I bought didn't come with a floppy drive so I asked the store geek if its board had a receptacle on the board for one. He didn't know so he tried to open the case. He couldn't turn the thumb screws! That's the sign of a true geek. While he went searching for pliers I popped it open and checked it out. He finally returned and then offered to put a floppy in for a few more bucks as they're "difficult" to install. I knew I had about 3-4 drives at home so I told him no. I've loaded all the old programs I wanted so I think I'll yank it out and throw in another CD drive.

What's your machine all about?

My machine was all about everything I wanted in a computer. I built it about 1.5 years ago, so now there are computers that can run circles around it, but it was a bad mofo when I put it together. I built the whole thing off of newegg.com. They have the best prices around.

Nothing like a scratch machine! Thanks for the tip about newegg.com.

So true. I spent a pile of money on this thing, and it's still a monster, but not so much in todays standards. I've got a great deal of computer envy going on with the new stuff out there.

It takes alot more than that to offend me. No worries. I took it as a compliment, in a round-about way.

You sir are amongst the reasons I do what I do for a living...that kind of statement drives me harder than my own ambition, to shut your & all the negative threads down on such a ridiculous idea! Watch me soar dude, it'll be my pleasure to prove u wrong!

A most excellent answer! :D

I'm looking forward to the day the nosebleed seats are the only thing available and we'll be able to say, "Remember when Jeff did the small venue tour, we were right up front, then!"

You GO, Jeff! :D

I was thinking that VERY thing Thursday night while I was standing in front of the stage. :) That will be a very exciting day!!!

Jeremey, you dodged a major bullet - what a great call.

Nice to see someone with their priorities straight! :)

Jeff, I love your stuff, from YJM all the way through to today. Recently I found Kryst the Conqueror and the first Eyes LP! You and Jeremy have credibility, integrity and a basic level of decency. Your street cred and professionalism are everything! Journey was a great gig, but you don't need them to soar, and I know that you will soar.

Reading that about what Neal said about "having had magic with Perry" makes me feel sad...how they are trying to hold onto what was. It can never be denied that what they all had then, together, was very special and will never occur again.
