I just read about this a little while ago. They are just as bad for doing this as the Pats were for spying, and another frivolous lawsuit clogs up America's court system. Ya gotta love this country.

Damn money-grubbing, lazy-ass, good for nothing, imbeciles. That's the person filing the lawsuit AND the lawyers making it happen.

I love this about the lawyers:

. "They are well known in the state but generally have had little success in their causes. "

I think that says it all.
When in doubt, DUCK!

The problem is, they tie up the courts with this nonsense to begin with, even if they're not successful. Then they only have to be successful one time and win millions of dollars.

As much as I agree in principle with the idiocy of this type of case, I am torn...
...because anything that results in the Patriots getting theirs is a worthwhile cause, even if there's zero legal leg to stand on.

I'd rather see Belichick get thrown in jail by a kangaroo court than hold the court responsible for anything else it might have done...

This is why I'm still stunned that nobody has filed suit against JOURNEY for lipping.

um... because Milli Vanilli, Britney, and a slew of other so-called performers made lipping standard practice in the music industry.... its NOT considered cheating....

...filming the opposing team to steal signs IS cheating....

I think what Journey did was damn sure cheating. I think that if the people that were at those concerts knew what was going on, there WOULD be a huge class action suit against them. Journey is just really lucky that people don't pay close attention.

actually they count on it...

lip-syncing has been around since MTV started.... its just that most folks only associated it with "pop" artists.... and feel slighted only when it doesn't work... (remember Ashlee Simpsons SNL F-up.... if it would have gone off perfect no one would have bitched at all)

Really - its all about the show now... what if you knew that the drum sounds yer hearing out of the P.A. system at a concert are really not the sound of the drums on stage.... only triggered samples? Is that cheating? Cause thats been going on for years too....

When artists start demanding $100+ a ticket they also start "cheating" to reduce the risk of anything sounding bad to the audience.... that means "enhancing" with things like tracked back vocals.... or sampled drum sounds triggered by the drummer...

Think that HUGE snare sound on Leppards "Rock of Ages" tune was a single drum? Think again... it was a combination of lots of electronics.... and that was sampled and triggered live... because its what the audience expected to hear.... can't charge $100 a ticket and not give them what they hear on record can ya?

Rock and Roll stopped being purerly "live" Rock and Roll a LONG TIME AGO....

Yes I agree it sucks.... but just like steriod use/abuse tarnishing the integrity of MLB, live musical performance is also suffering the same fate.

its ENTERTAINMENT now....

MV were busted big time as misleading consumers. If memory serves correctly I believe some people did try filing suits.

Certain artists are expected to lip and that's a fact. JOURNEY isn't one of those artists. That's why it could easily be seen as consumer fraud.

American Bandstand was all lipped.. and telivised programs are lipped for time purposes... but live concert hall shows??? it just seems that that was ultra rare until the boy bands of the 90's ,, and dancer/singers of today.. yuck
