That was my point..Neal does this small deal and Perry gets pissed and goes off half cock and has to "show them"... That's what f'd it up..why didn't they just talk it over..ROR was rushed. Steve Smith and Ross might have said something and Perry said your gone..It is what is it.. I just listened to some kevin chalfant..I don't think he's gonna be the guy..His voice isn't strong enough..

spit ballin here.. but did you see that clip that was posted a few weeks back of the Walk of Fame ceremony? schon is telling the "camera" that the band is going on tour , and that maybe perry,(who is standing next to him) can join them somewhere on tour.. perry immediatly makes a statement about hearing that schon is in another band.. (soul sirkus),, kinda get the impression that perry is jabbing him because he gives good stuff away to other projects instead of to his main band.. those jan hammer albums and that HSAS had some KILLER riffs and songs on them.. commerical or not..

I don't really understand why SP going to great lengths to make his solo debut the best it could be is considered a bad thing. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something here, but it seems like he's being roasted for doing exactly what he has done with every other aspect of his career. He did say in the BTM that he was, IDK, offended or something that Neal went off and did a solo thing, so he did one too. Was it sour grapes? Perhaps. Isn't it more likely that a band's lead singer is the one to venture off and do a solo thing though? I guess I just don't think it's unreasonable to think that SP would do that.

Obviously none of us really know WTF happened between the members. Hell, I'm sure even THEY don't really know, because it's all in the eye of the beholder. The truth is whatever one's experience says it is... meaning that SP's truth is likely very different than Neal's. It appears that there was a lot of whacked out stuff going on around the 84-86 time period. I think there were perhaps some personal issues that were getting in the way of professionalism. And I think they're probably ALL to blame on some level.

I agree..I think there was personal issues also..But I also think SP's ego went into overdrive..He went from being happy he is in the band..to realizing,he was the voice and those other guys just followed suit..Because they realized he really brought something to the table. Then he started getting arrogant..he knew Journey wouldn't be Journey without him..Think about it..he basically had all the power..In 98 the guys said F U..out of principle and decided to do it without him..With Augeri, they did get more fans..some younger fans..I very much enjoyed their music after Perry..Perry was great while he lasted, but I like their new stuff also..I'm excited to see who they get next and what a new album would sound like..

Out of principle???? That is one word that you rarely see used in conjunction with the Journey name... :?

They wanted to prove they could do it without SP,can you blame them.? IF it was you? Most people feel the need to prove themselves,I'm sure they do to..I will support whatever they do ,because I have liked their music from day one til now!

Well, I certainly understand the desire to do that, but from my perspective, it's been one disappointment after the other, culminating in this latest joke. The one bright spot was JSS, but even he couldn't re-create the magic of the Perry era.

Just because there wasn't going to be a new album with JSS,doesn't mean there won't be one with someone else..For the love of god..What is it with everyone on here and JSS..Buy Soul Sirkus already.

We already have it. We like JSS because he's the real deal. You've not been around long enough on here to know why, so... don't criticize the board members who have.

There was no closure with JSS, that's why. He was let go with seemingly NO explanation to anyone, ESPECIALLY to him. And they told us they were working on a new album, so yes, that's what we expected to eventually see. It would have been incredible, I'm sure. Of course, it would've taken a little more creativity than the one original song they did...Winds of Freedom. It was a joke, and I'm from Virginia!!!

Chill out.

It has nothing to do with JSS; the point is they want an asshole to sing the Dirty Dozen. Nothing more....nothing less. Why put any effort and pour your money into making new music, when you can make money touring off of songs that you made two decades ago?

If you want to spend money on them, go for it!

They haven't proved themselves yet that I can see. Looking for a Perry clone to sing the dirty dozen exactly the same as Perry doesn't constitute doing it without SP if you ask me.
"as long as they have to carry DSB as their banner, it looks like Perry will be right there with them as an overseer, ready to wield his veto power on all things Classic Journey." As quoted by Don on 12/7/2010
