Yeah, I know, no chance of that EVER happening... but personally, IF Arnel gets the job... I think he will do well... I don't really understand what everyone has against him. From what I've seen recently, Journey has more fair-weather fans than just about any other band. Granted, they shouldn't have let a talent as great as JSS go, but until we know what exactly is going on, we shouldn't sit here and bash a band that we have absolutely no idea what their current reasoning state is. Arnel, Jeremey, Hugo, Kevin Chalfant, ...STEVE PERRY? I'll support just about any great singer who comes along for the band and does the catalog (and hopefully NEW material) justice!!!

Agreed! Not sold on chalfant..Heard some of his stuff,wasn't impressed..Joe Lynn Turner is alright,no one brought him up because its not going to happen..I really liked Augeri,I was upset when I heard he got broomed..Perry won't be back!

The problem with him and every other well known singer (that wouldn't make them look like a bunch of amateurs) is that no well known respected in the industry singer is gonna touch them with a ten foot pole. Besides they don't want to PAY anybody the kind of cash they'd expect, if they were a well known vocalist. That same well known vocalist would want to be a significant part any writing process, too, not just be a dirty dozen puppet.

WHEN Journey proves to me they can no longer put on a decent show with whomever they decide on as lead singer... then, and ONLY then will I abandon them. There HAS to be some sort of reasoning behind what they're doing. When they prove me wrong, I'll admit it. And my bet is still on the fact that this could all be an elaborate SP reunion hoax. Before you say ANYTHING else from the comfort of that basement, remember that i said my bet is on the fact that this COULD be a hoax. You people just don't get it do you? The average Journey fan could CARE LESS who is singing, as long as they sound good and it is the dirty dozen + or - a song or two.

We care because we aren't average Journey fans, and we just don't like what they did to Jeff. But that is our emotions talking.

Journey is going to tour middle sized venues and some larger outdoor venues next summer and make millions, no matter who they have on vox.

It's the music the average fan cares about. As long as they have the name Journey they will attract an audience.

Sure it would be BIGGER with Perry, but that won't ever happen. So Schon and Cain, Ross and Deen and whatever singer it ends up being will be on the road playing to 8 to 10 thousand people a night and those are the facts. Like them or not.

Somehow comforting youself with the inane notion that Journey is going to be playing county fairs is juts plain wrong. Did they handle everything with Jeff right...absolutely not...it was disgraceful, but to the average fan who just wants to go hear the music on a warm summer night it doesn't matter and that average fan will shell out the $$$ to see Journey and listen to the dirty dozen and relive their youth.

Be mad at Journey that's fine at least though don't blind yourselves with emotion and think that because of how Journey hurt Jeff it will make an iota of difference in the amount of money they are going to make next tour, because it won't.

I am writing from my own house, and on the second floor,although my basement is nice to.You are obviously a casual fan,and dont have a fucking clue. You havent been to a bad Journey show?Thats what you think.You were hearing taped vocals on alot of the songs,you problablly dont know or care about that,as long as you were entertained,if that wasnt bad enough they dumped the next singer,and dont even have the balls to tell him.There is no way you ll understand where I coming from

There's no way JLT could sing the Journey catalogue night in and night out. He doesn't have the range anymore. I like his recent stuff but his voice is obviously not what it once was. The only way he could do it would be for them to transpose those suckers down or go to tapes again...

Don't tell fans who are open minded they don't care..I care as much as the next guy..I just want more music,it does not have to be with SP..I would only hear ballads from him now,that's all he writes anymore..If he isn't going to do frontiers or escape type music,I don't want him in the band..He's 50 freaking 8 years old..I would rather have a younger guy in there myself.. Amen to everything you just said!!! It is good to see their are open minded Journey fans still out there, and you know what? Ive seen a bunch coming on this board lately and defending them against the haters. THats awesome!!! And usually the reply you get back is what you got back on your first post. Thats too bad. As ive said you'd think if they hated Journey so much they would abondon this board and just move on down the line to the JSS board. They dont even have to leave Melodicrock!!! I doubt SP will ever sing again, at least with this band. It would be great if he would but he just wants to fade into the sunset and not look back. I still wish Jeremey was the new singer although I dont think he wishes that anymore from reading the blogs. If you can try to check out Jeremey's band Frontiers if your on this side of the country-they are terrific!!!

The party looks awesome..However,I already have plans this weekend..Ok,let me revise my statement..not old,tired! Some of those guys ,usually everyone but the lead singer can play..Voices change as you get older..Even when I saw Boston in concert,Brad Delp said before the concert that he can't hit the high notes anymore and that Fran Cosmos would help him with it..RIP Brad.. He and Steve Perry...Best singers I have ever witnessed IMO!!

I always thought JLT was a "Steve Perry with Balls"...

In fact, before Augeri was announced, I was so convinced that the first guy Neal would call, would be JLT, knowing Neal's obsession with getting Journey to rock out more. Strangely (and sadly) that never materialized.

I don't know enough about JLT's range now, to comment on whether he could work in the band...but part of the problem is that certain twinkletoad dickwads in Journey refuse to tune down and tour smartly....both of which are of paramount importance to the singer.....but time is short when you've got ex-wives to pay off. So really, anyone that does sing for this band, is going to have to have a stellar range with a nearly inhuman stamina.

JTL was awesome with Yngwie..Loved the songs he wrote..I always thought back then he sounded like Perry..Just don't know if his voice would hold up doing constant concerts..That's why most of the older guys like to cut albums and tour sporadically..IMO
