That tune sounds like Van Halen with ZZ Top vocals.

John from Boston

Deen is just as good a singer as Steve.

Too bad he isn't a front man because they are auditioning everyone when the guy they should be talking to is on the drums. Then again, no, they'd have to can him after six months and then they would need a drummer and a singer.

Deen doesn't want the job and I think he's okay just singing a song or two during any given set. I don't think his voice would hold up for more than a few shows anyway.

I love different, I'm guessing I would give thumbs up to this tune.

Same here -- people were just open-mouthed when Deen started singing during the Journey/Def Lep concert several months back. I've also heard the same as you -- that Deen's voice doesn't have a lot of staying power. Again, I've only read that on another message board, and have no idea if there is any truth to it. I did notice in Steve A.'s interview w/Andrew (and from Neal's comments) that Deen did help Steve out at times during the show -- took a high note for him or something.
I really grew to like Steve A's voice for what it was --- perfectly suited for the Journey sound, but also having a character of its own which I really enjoy.
From what I've heard, Deen does not want to be out in front, he has a stage fright issue or something like that. He is ok behind the drums, but wants no part being out front.conversationpc wrote:mistiejourney wrote:I watched people walking around at one concert all literally stop in their tracks when Deen opened his mouth. I was listening to Arrival today - Steve's voice was at it's best on Kiss Me Softly, but I grew to love it no matter what he sang. Arrival was such an upbeat album and I thought TBF was rather melancholy. Now when is he going to release the solo stuff????
