OT: Bret Michaels' Rock Of Love Was A Sham

Postby T-Bone » Sun Oct 14, 2007 11:22 am

As if ALL reality shows aren't "shams" to begin with...

Was POISON Singer's Love Search A Sham?

According to World Entertainment News Network, POISON singer Bret Michaels' hit new reality dating show, "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels", has allegedly been exposed as a sham — the girl he picked to date was already in a committed relationship.

The rocker picked Jes Ricklett as his mate in the show's high-rated finale last month, but the pink-and-white haired stylist apparently revealed that she had no plans of having a real romance with Michaels — she dashed off to be with her boyfriend as soon as taping finished.

And, to make matters worse for Michaels, Ricklett's real man, Chicago-based designer Joe Quade, has started poking fun at the POISON star on his MySpace page, writing "[Jes] wants to deal with real fans, not losers . . . If you're not creepy and just want info on the clothing line or to see pics of Jes with a real man that still has his real hair, then thank you for your interest."

Ricklett tells the National Enquirer she had no intention of becoming the girlfriend of a faded rock star when she auditioned for the hit show.

She says, "Someone found me and wanted me to audition for the show, so I did.

"To be honest, I wasn't going on there looking for love. I was kind of like, 'Let's see if I could promote myself.' That's pretty much why I did it."

In a posting on her MySpace page, Jes writes about the show, "In the final episode when Bret asked us [Jes and Heather] if he could have us both, I want to clarifly that Heather said no. They edited it to make her look like she said yes and she didn't at all.

"Heather is a kick-ass girl, absolutely hilarious with a great heart, and her and I had a great time together.

"When a guy that is supposed to be looking for his ONE true love...why would he ask to have both?? Kinda weird huh? To me, [that was a] HUGE flag that he lied the whole time and isn't really looking for love. Not being his true self.

"No one saw the interaction him and Heather had throughout the whole show but the other girls and myself.

"I'll be competely honest, she was everyone's competition from the beginning. There's a reason why I feel he should have picked her, and it's reasons that NONE of you will ever understand. And people are shitting on me, fine, but isn't it funny that Bret himself even admitted that he was too scared to pick Heather because he knew she wanted the real thing and he wasn't ready for it? Did any of you pay attention to that?! Did you ever think that, that was my whole point for getting up there and doing what I did [rejecting Bret on the reunion show]? To prove he wasn't there for the right reasons."

I knew it was fake, but hadn't heard enough to confirm it until the stuff you posted -- thanks! After the reunion show, VH1 was a little too quick to announce a second season featuring Brett.

I watched every episode of this show, and hated myself for doing it... haha! VH1 puts so little effort into these shows anymore, they are barely entertaining if at all. Do you notice how little "show" there actually is in a 30-minute or 1-hour episode? Very brief segments, followed by a minute of review of "what's coming up" (usually repeated several times during the show), and after the ads, another minute of recap of what just happened. There is very little real show there, and the reunion episodes are the worst!

I'm now happy to announce that I'm officially DONE with VH1 CelebReality -- thank you God! I can spend my time doing something more productive. :)

Also funny was the comment on Bret's hair -- people have long known that he's challenged up top, but when the show aired, a friend of his popped onto another message board and announced that on an upcoming episode, Brett would be seen for the first time in years without his hat or bandana for most of the show! It was really strange to talk it up that way, like he was finally going to prove he had a full head of hair, but I immediately smelled a rat. All he's ever had to do to dispel those rumors was to pull off the hat/bandana in front of cameras.

It started a huge discussion on that board, but I never believed it was his real hair. What it was -- wig, extensions, I do not know.

I peeked at this stupid show and didn't see anybody attractive. All of those girls were nasty, hard looking stripper hard living types, none of the appeal of hot actresses or girl next doors or hot looking models. But what do you expect, anybody auditioning for that would be a rejected actress or stripper pornoer type anyway. He's gotta have hotter groupies hanging around in realife than these ugly broads. Yuck.

Of all the reality "Bachelor" type shows, VH1 has an almost non-existent record of helping form lasting relationships (outside of Chris Knight and Adrienne Curry, who met on Surreal Life). If anything, VH1's shows almost always end up looking like a sham, designed to drum up additional seasons for the same idiots they try to pair off (Flavor Flav, New York, etc.).

I do have to say, I have enjoyed some of their more serious shows like "Breaking Bonaduce" and "Shooting Sizemore", but if anything, the endings seem crafted to give the impression that things end on a happy note. Even with those shows, you know they amplify the drama and probably ignore other things that would give a different impression of what goes on. I still think VH1 is crap now, and plan to cut it from my "must see TV list".

Reality shows are causing our gene pool to fail. I cant understand how anyone can stand a minute of any of them. There are a few good shows on tv but for the most part television is at its worst ever. Useless, mindless drivel the lot of it.

It caters to the lowest common denominator more than ever before for the sake of money, and in the process, increases that L.C.D. There is no conscience in pop culture at all. All is done for money at the expense of any greater good they could achieve with something positive to society. And anyone who still makes an argument that pop-culture or media isn't responsible for influencing people is an idiot.

I caught maybe 5 minutes total of all the episodes combined. I have NO time for SCRIPTED reality shows. There's nothing real about them to begin with. I'll happily stik to Nat'l Geographic, Travel, Modern Marvels, History and a few other channels where I can actually learn something useful

Of course it's fake, but it makes for great TV. I loved the show. Nothing like guilty pleasure!

Neal Schon should star in this show next season.

Would you stay and be my new ex-wife and ruin my world.

Bone, I hate to break it to you...almost every reality show these days is scripted in some way shape or form.

Hell, the fucking Ozzy show a few years back on MTV...they actually had to film with cue cards for ozzy...until they realized that Ozzy had trouble reading them...so they resorted to doing quick scenes and having some keygrip/whatever come in, whisper the line into the ozman's ear....run off the set and the director would yell action as soon as the dipshit was out of camera.

It's the biggest farce in the entertainment world...the idea of a 'reality' show. Hell, even the first MTV real world shows were 'scripted'...
