OT - Why is it that bands are so against.....

...opening up their vaults?

I mean especially with Journey losing 10+ years worth of touring, and all the off-time - you'd think they would jump at the chance of making revenue for basically doing nothing.....

I'm not going to get into the whole Perry runs everything debate.

Just don't get why bands are so against this....and i mean most bands. Kiss seems to be the only one(as well as Phish with their shows being availiable soon after) willing to shove stuff out there....

Kiss is getting ready to put out Kissology Volume 3. Looking at 5 DVD's of vault material. That's not counting the other 10 or so discs from Volumes 1 and 2 released over the last year.

Whether you like them or not, that is a TON of material from their vaults.

Oh, but Journey put out the Houston DVD...........

it took the beatles 25 years from 1970 when they broke up until 1995 to put out one new song that had john lennon vocals and a new project called anthology.the eagles took fifteen years from 1979 until 1994 to put out new music and nothing in between.led zeppelin put out a box set in 1990 more than eleven years after their last release in '79 not counting coda in '82.van halen released one dave song in '96 eleven years after they broke up in '85 and they didn't get back together until 22 years later.they remixed an elvis song 25 years after his death in '77 in the year 2002 for his number 1 album.they must safegaurd that stuff like a hawk......
