I would like a full glass of hard liquor. Doesn't matter what. I've missed every concert this year and I'm gonna miss three more by the end of next week.

I gotta laugh a little bit though. Usually only one concert with decent bands appears in the New England area and my bro and I make an effort to go to that one concert. This year, everyone's touring all at once, and they either fall on conflicting days, or the money just isn't there.

This next week: Within Temptation, Epica, and Visions of Atlantis...Sigh. :(

So instead, I'll be doing a ping pong tournament with my best friend. It's not Within Temptation, but it'll still be fun.

N.P. Nightwish "Amaranth" (do I smell comeback of the year?)

Why are you missing all these concerts?

I'm not overly impressed with Amaranth. Don't like the new singer much.

Haven't seen him in a while, but he was there 15 years ago already, so I guess he's over 50 by now, at least. He really must enjoy to gym in such an outfit. He could do a show with the rollerskating in a string guy actually... or maybe rather not!

I just had my first official 'full' drink in real life. At one of my friend's weddings, my bro somehow convinced me to try a White Russian...absolutely brutal. Couldn't finish it. So I opted for something weaker: Kahlua Sombrero. Easier to drink, but it was still nasty. Reminded me of a coffee milkshake that been sitting around for too long.

I'm thinking that maybe alcohol will be better tasting if added to desserts. I know the folks have a recipe for Coffee Brandy Gingerbread kicking around.

I started with beer, but didn't like that very much at first... switched to Pisang Ambon (banana liqueur) with orange juice for a while. Sweet and sort of refreshing, unless you drink too much of it. Then it's just too sweet.

Nice weekend everybody! 8)

The weather here's been unsually warm here. Maine doesn't have an in-between season. It's either too hot or too cold.

I'm not complaining. If the axis shifted and we became year-round tropical I wouldn't complain the least bit.

I'm on vacation in two weeks, and I've been volunteered for cleaning. I'm helping the folks switch the pantry and the quilting room. It's gonna suck. Neither room has been touched in years. I need a shovel.

Of all bands, my bro wants to see Scrap Metal. GAH! He'd pick a tribute hair band over Nightwish??? Must've been all the White Russians he had a week ago.

But seriously, I'll catch them on their second round of US tour dates next year. By then, I will have wheels.

Dutch weather is in-between most of the time. It hardly ever gets really hot or extremely cold.
The first warm and sunny days in the city are always nice. The city looks much prettier in the sunshine and everybody is suddenly mellow and laidback. After a couple of days it's back to normal unfortunately, regardless of the weather.

Good luck with the cleaning. ;) You may come across some long forgotten stuff... I always like that about such chores.

It's collecting rust in the yard right now. A hand-me-down from my older bro's gf. Nice gold '89 Oldsmobile with low miles. It needs new tires, shocks, and struts before it will pass inspection.

It was an interesting clean when we took on the folks' master bedroom. We ended up digging up an old 1988 Star Trek Original Series calender. It was in too bad a shape to eBay. When treasure hunting in this dump, some real interesting things come up.

Ah, some work to do yet! Great to have a car of your own. I miss to be able to have my own stuff in a car. I always rent one of the carshare cars here since there's a waiting list for a parking license and you can't get on it unless you have a car. And I don't have a place to stall it while I wait... :?

Oh, it's very exciting over here! I'm cleaning the house...

In between I'm ripping my CDs. I've found a way to 'enhance' the files so they won't sound distorted on mp3 player. Now they won't play as loud anymore, but they won't clip either.

I'll be missing After Forever & Nightwish next week. I had planned my vacation specifically for those two shows. Alas, I have no working wheels.

I don't mind missing Nightwish now, as their tour indicates they'll be doing a second US run next year. But I highly doubt After Forever will do the same. I'd love to find someone who'd do a day trip, but I seem to be the only person in central Maine who even knows who After Forever is. Even the few Nightwish fans here don't know who they are.

Next week isn't over yet. One thing I don't do is give up.

So, Plan B will be cleaning. Lots...and lots...of cleaning. What a way to spend a vacation. By the time I'm done, I will need a vacation from my vacation!

You wouldn't happen to have an industrial construction vehicle with an oversized scoop, would ya? That's what it's gonna take to clean this house.

Found out today that Nightwish will be here in January. Shame that Tarja isn't singing with them anymore but I'll still be going.

After hearing the new album I'd consider going too - only we'll be in New Zealand for most of Jan.....tough luck, eh?

Based on what I've heard, I think she'll handle the old stuff ok, but as they pump out more albums they'll obviously play less and less of the Tarja stuff.
