WOW! I just saw Ian Gillan with Deep Purple a few months ago and he was OUTSTANDING!! I never did see him with Black Sabbath however.

Stood there most of the show with hs long hair covering his face so he could read lyrics on his stage monitors, and he still screwed up and mumbled the wrong lyrics for most of the show. It was embarrassing.

that is very hard to believe!
Not at all...the current incarnation of Whitesnake is arguably the best incarnation of this band ever. Doug Aldrich does a better John Sykes than Sykes. Reb Beach handles the Vai stuff without the gay over the top crap Vai did back in the day.....
The only kink in Whitesnake's current lineup armor was the fact that they no longer have Marco Mendoza, who was fucking amazing...but if we're talking about 2003, I believe Marco was still in the band then.
You are correct, sir. I saw the tour (which also included Dokken) here in San Diego...won front row tickets and backstage access from my local FM classic rocker, and all three bands were "on" that night.
It's my understanding that Marco is now with the group that calls itself Thin Lizzy, which, given the fact that Phil Lynott has been dead and buried for over two decades, is a complete farce.

I positively love Tesla!Saw them back in the day, too, and their show was incredible.
Several years ago, they hit a rough patch there with me and I had vowed to never see them again. I recently saw them at the the Nokia Theatre (got free tickets) and it was as if they had that old fire back again. They were fantastic! They have now redeemed themselves with me.

Several years ago, I recall Styx/REO/Journey going out together. Journey closed each night, while Styx and REO flip-flopped. I saw a handful of these shows, and Styx blew the other two away every time.I even had front row for one of these shows and Styx was still the better act of that night for me.
As for South Bend: I missed most of Goodbye Thrill (so I can't comment), but IMO the highlight was the JSS Band for energy and danceability, Kevin Chalfant for an outstanding vocal performance, and Scrap Metal for an endless list of hits and overwhelming star power.![]()
All you had to do was hear Tesla's new album into the now and know they were back! Didn't even seem like they were gone..And that's what makes for good chemistry..

Sorry to dredge this up, but I just came across a cool pic from the concert I mentioned above...me and Coverdale, backstage before the show.
And no, that's NOT all my hair...most of it belongs to some chick who was standing behind us...
