Most good artists rip off the greats of generations previous to theirs to some extent. Perry ripped off Sam Cooke as well. What's the difference?

Ummmm...no he didn't. This is simply a fuckin' ridiculous thing to say. Perry modeled himself after Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson and a few others, but can you honestly say that you hear Sam Cooke in Faithfully or Don't Stop Believin'? Your "ripped off" comment is COMPLETE bullshit. Steve Perry, like Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke, had his OWN unique, original style. I'd bet my 3 balls  that NO Sam Cooke fan would say "Hey, this dude is a Sam wanna be!" if they listened to anything Steve Perry has ever done.

You're reading stuff into my comments that aren't there. I'm not saying his entire vocal style was a Sam Cooke ripoff. SOME of it was. There's nothing ridiculous about it. In the same way, most, if not all, good guitarists rip off others. The best ones take those things and turn them into something better, which is what Perry did.

Note: When I say "rip off", I don't mean that in an underhanded way. Like AR said, it's more like borrowing.

I call most of it "borrowing".

Led Zeppelin STOLE almost everyhting they ever did and had to change credits on their albums.

Perry IMO didn't steal from Sam Cooke, he was just influenced by him.

Frig and Fro are cowards. Hey you little shrimp and Liberace wanna be. Man up and pick up the phone. Pussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chicken shit fucks. Gutless cowards.

Of course Schon will have to have someone read this to him.

I'm not reading anything that isn't there. You said "Perry ripped off Sam Cooke as well." Choose your words a bit more carefully. Your comment was out of line and I maintain that is was BS.

Good grief, dude. Take a dose of midol and have a beer. Not BS at all and nothing out of line about it.

Speaking of beer...Why is it every time I actually want one, I don't have any.
