Not trying to dig up any bones here but, I watched this again and I just can't see it. Nothing against him personally but, I can't believe that "Team Journey" is comfortable with this guy. Good voice, noticeable accent, and NO stage presence at all. His band doesn't help him much though. Man, they fucking suck.

his youtubes, not every artist is on youtube or uses it extensively. Arnel is from a small country that has many of these types of copy bands and they get quite famous over there and around Asia so of course they are going to have quite an online type following.

Arnel has lots of YouTube support and Jeremey has none.

People want to post about how great Jeremey is but if YouTube is the measuring stick then he loses by a mile.

Some people on this forum have said some pretty nasty things to me. Stuff about my wife, children, and family. There's been some pretty nasty things said about Frig & Fro, too. So I make an observation about YouTube and I'm accused of all kinds of stuff. Andrew even has to take a shot. My comments on the Philmusic.com article are also dragged up. What is NOT dragged up is my response to the mysterious Bella.Donna who was accused of trying to destroy Andrew's Metal concert:

I'm the person under the nick "Wheels Of Fyre" at MR.com and here as "FyreWyngz". FyreWyngz has been my AOL mail account for many years and I simply use variations of it. Wheels Of Fyre is a variation as well as a line from JOURNEY's Still They Ride track off their E5C4P3 album.

Anyway, to clarify a specific reason as to why I received some of the responses I did I think it's fair to consider that some people may have taken offense to what I posted here regarding MR.com. They felt that I had no right posting anything on MR.com after what I'd said.

To clarify what I said here. I stand by it. MR.com was dishing it out on Arnel and the Filipino culture. Jim Ayson's response to that is pointed and fair. I support it as it reflects much of what I was expressing directly on MR.com. Ultimately, I didn't post anything here that I hadn't/wouldn't post at MR.com. This is a fact conveniently glossed over.

When it comes right down to it I'm nobody. What I have to say on the matter carries no more weight than anybody else might have to say. However I appreciate your recognition that my wife should never have been brought into things. That simply shows that someone's run out of anything logical or rational to say.

Historically, things have gotten out of hand at MR.com and the board owner (Andrew) has seen fit to shut it down from time to time as well as give certain members "holidays" until they've cooled their heels. I believe Andrew wants to maintain a "freedom of speech" environment. This environment can unfortunately lead to insulting and offensive things being posted. Could Andrew have done more and/or currently do more to "control" these kinds of things? I think he's the only one who can fairly answer that.

As for myself, I appreciate and respect what you've said. And while I've been at the receiving end of some pretty vile comments from MR.comer's (the one about my children looking like retards was memorable) I have to say in all fairness that the vast majority of members are decent people. Actually, they're nobodies, too! Just a bunch of obsessed JOURNEY fans sharing in the experience. I just watched all three of these and I don't need any YouTube comments to tell me that Jeremey kicked ass on that song. He's got the crowd into it and everybody's having a good time. If you want the slower, I'll-just-stand-up-and-sing-it version then, there's Arnel. It's like he's completely oblivious to the fact that people are watching him. He's up there, stoically singing while the audience is having coffee and desert. Like a lounge singer. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there was a tip jar at the front of the stage somewhere.

Now, this is supposed to be an up-tempo song. A song that people get into, jump around, sing-along, and have a good time. A feel-good party song. I don't give a shit what YouTube comments look like. Jeremey and his band totally captured the essence of what the song was written to be and nailed it. JSS did the same thing, as did Augeri. I have seen Journey several times with both Jeff and Steve and although I personally favored Jeff to Steve, they both "got it". Arnel doesn't seem to have a clue what the song is about. It's not always about who's got the most powerful voice in the room. It's about the passion behind the songs. Not just the passion of the person singing but, more importantly, the passion of the people listening. Arnel could be the greatest vocalist in the world and sound better than Steve Perry but, if all he did was stand up and sing the songs, an American audience would walk out half-way through the show.

Watch all three of these and tell me which show you would rather see. Would you rather be having a great time knowing that your money and time was spent wisely or, would rather have coffee and desert?
