Writers Go on Strike

Postby Playitloudforme » Fri Nov 02, 2007 3:09 pm

It's official. The Writers are on strike. This will probably affect the 'late night shows' that need skits etc to run, and may affect the television shows that are mid-season.

Gotta talk to my buddy -- she works 'locations', and this might put her out of work until they settle. That would suck.

This is a good chance to see which of the late night people are really good and which ones just deliver someone else's jokes really well.

Leno monologue sucks most of the time so no loss there.

Letterman, so so. He's not that funny anymore in the monologue. He phones it in anyway these days.

Conan pretty good. This won't affect him. He can write his own stuff (he used to write for Letterman).

My favorite, Craig Ferguson will be funny regardless (Late Late Show on CBS). The best part of his show is his monologue anyway. I watch that and hang longer only if he's got a good guest or music act.

Here's a clip:

Ferguson is the best of the lot, and I'd assume he'd lose no ground at all.

As far as the late night talk shows, am I lame for saying that i've liked no one since Carson, and Letterman back in the 80's? Gosh, i feel old now.

Yeah, I miss Carson too. He was both great at the monologue and interviewing. Those were good shows.

Ferguson is personable like Carson in his own way. He does a real monologue instead of one liners like the others.

Ha, ha, I'm watching him right now. He's talking about the War of the Worlds movie and H.G. Wells. Said H.G. stands for Huge Genitals.

Craig Ferguson is great! This will undercut SNL, though.

That show hasn't been consistently good since the late 80s, early 90s.

Two of my favorite Scots... Craig Ferguson & Gerry Butler. This is back before they officially picked the new "Bond".
