No way.
If they do this, they won't stop in Fresno, not even for bus fuel. They will do big markets. There isn't an arena in Fresno that they could play. That place at University of Fresno is too small. They would do Staples or the Pond in LA, and then to the Bay Area for shows. You people in cow towns and outposts won't get a sniff. This won't be a Carnival and Hot dog Fair tour if it comes true.

maybe to push Steve in a corner. Poker hand, and well played?
Well, that, and then covering all their bases, I guess.
Jeremey; YOU ARE THE MAN WHO INVENTED COOLNESS!!
You have the best thing to put in a CV: I got sacked from Journey!!
Which means:
I am human being
I got a warm heath
I respect other people
I listen to people
I care
AND I CAN SING !!!!!!!
Well, I could go on and on and on.....
But in the end, like Steve Perry, Steve Augeri and Jeff scott Soto: You get a LOT of PR from NOT getting involved with these as......
What the hell is a warm heath and where can I get one...?
Oh and yay for Stevie (if there is any truth in this snowballing rumour)!

StyxCollector wrote:Look, if it's Perry, it's the right move. I'm skeptical since quite frankly, even IF he is back:
a) The album won't sell insanely - let's face it, it's 2007, not 1981 despite the DSB stuff
b) The tour would do well, and they'd headline, but there's still going to be an opening act/2 act bill to pull it off I think
c) I think it'll be a fragile peace. Assuming we don't get the TBF fiasco of 1996, I don't see more than a summer shed tour
Like Styx, I think a "one more time for old time's sake" has been in the offing for years, buy just like Styx post-1997, it can unravel faster than a lit fuse.
Maybe bringing other singers in to audition - Jeremey, Arnel, who knows who else - was a power play. And no matter what Schon may think of TBF, he does get along with Kevin Shirley (he was at Schon's wedding a few years back I think); I think it was Arrival he had the huge issue with. Now, remember that Caveman did work with Perry and the boys in 1996 and could handle the egos. Heck, he works with Jimmy Page. So it would stand to reason for an important project, you don't want some unknown that couldn't work with all involved.
Again, I'd be just as happy as everyone else if this turns out to be true. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.

Let's hope we don't have to hang on the cliff much longer.

I guess we'll find out soon enough though.

Hey Jeremey,
Thanks for the info. At the risk of sounding like a complete dork, who is JT?

I just read your blog:
"anyway, the dealbreaker was my relationship with my wife and my family. i was told after a band meeting to arrive on my own for a sit-down before working on some demos. i was surprised to hear that neal was completely freaked out by my wife all week."
Damned it,
Isn't the family the only thing that counts????
Everything els is just ...nothing.
I hope you and your wife are well and man, having a child is the best thing that can happen.
When me and my wife had our daughter, well , that was the best day in my life:
I wouldn't change that day for a mollion dollars!
Jeremey, take care and keep away from the J-band

If it's Arnel, it's business as usual, and we go right back to the old bickering and bashing, but this time with race baiting thrown in for good measure. If it's Perry, there will be flowers, peace and light, and Journey fans can once again hold hands and sing Kum Ba Ya. Man, nothing against Arnel, but I'm sure hoping for the latter.

Wasn't DLR quoted as saying there'd be no way in hell he'd ever tour with VH again, two or three months before the new tour was announced?

Journey's tour manager/operations manager and general jack of all trades.

When Perry said that he had "no such plans whatsoever" to return to Journey back in June, that could have been his feeling at that time. They may have been talking but, at that point, Steve wasn't seeing the numbers he wanted and wasn't in a position to commit. They were too far apart and Steve thought it wasn't going to happen so, he squashed the rumors in order to have a peaceful summer. They bring in Jeremey and then Arnel as "plan-B's" (no offense to Jeremey or Arnel) while they continue to talk to Perry. Pictures surface with Arnel but, that could have simply been a scrapbook photo that got leaked. It has been months since we've heard anything official from Journey about anything even though Arnel has been rumored to be in the works for quite some time. If he was the guy, we should have heard by now. That also might explain why Jeremey got the whole "Steve Perry magic" thing from Neal and why he felt uneasy about the situation and followed his instincts and turned the deal down.
On many levels it all makes some sense. On the other hand...

The payday for a tour like this would shorten up a tour schedule considerably. No longer a need to cover all the small market coliseums and stretch it out over 6 months. Hit the big stops and give Mr P plenty of rest between shows and they'll do fine.

Who is Van Halen's manager again?
Oh yeah, Irving Azoff!
And by the way, when I was at dinner with Azoff & company, he and Neal were discussing Van Halen and at that point, they still hadn't confirmed Dave coming back in completely. That was June, and VH is already on tour.
