Who cares? If he wants to stay retired, it's his life.

r u kidding after neal ran the good name into the ground.....hell they need steve back just to clean up this fuckin mess that tiny made...froy wrote:I think Arnel is the guy and that's fine with me,
Yea settle for another copycat singer thats fine with you.
Fact is this is the last time Steve Perry will get the chance to close the JRNY book forever
If he passes this chance then he is short changing himself and his fans
To just quit the buisness and never come back is really pretty sad,
This guy was the king and now he has just faded away.
There are ways to get rid of a hoarse voice and Perry needs to do it.
As said before if its anyone but Perry then this game is over.
r u kidding after neal ran the good name into the ground....

yeah there moving forward ...all the way to the county fair!!lmao....hey maybe they can run a food stand while there not playingfroy wrote:r u kidding after neal ran the good name into the ground....
Because Steve Perry went awol during TBF
If Steve did not run away the good name would still be a good name.
Give Neal credit the guy has never said 1 bad thing about Perry and has always asked him back
Unlike JY of Styx who has destroyed the band and its name forever,.hell they need steve back just to clean up this fuckin mess that tiny made...
Thats in the past
Nobody should be to blame,
Just move forward
Perry should get back and repair his damage that he left behind

Give Neal credit? Just because you *think* he hasn't sad bad things about Perry...it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Hell, wtf is NOMOTA...you think that's some nice pretty name he came up with?![]()
Trust me, Neal's done plenty. I'll give him credit....credit for completely destroying a band over the past 10 years.
Escape Artist wrote:Perry never tried touring w/o Neal or Jon trying to pass it off as Journey.
The alleged Journey line up of 2008 is equal to Perry touring with Arnel's truly awful band, although I would rather see that Journey then the one we are stuck with now.
Journey is dead.
That's exactly right SG. If that isn't the epitomy of saying bad things, then I don't know what is. The only thing I'll give Neal credit for is the record for alimony payments.strangegrey wrote:froy wrote:Because Steve Perry went awol during TBF

Neal was also QUOTED (and I swear I'll find it) smacking SP down over the reissues.
He said that Perry would rather cling to the past than do something new.
Um... and hiring a Perry impersonator so you can match the sound on the the 65 million units already out there ISN'T clinging to the past instead of doing something new? Smack my ass and call me Betty, I must have been absent that day.

Funny how some people can quote every word Steve ever said that they want to twist around as use against him, but they've totally forgotten all of Neal's shit.

Alright - I said I would find it and here it is... this interview with Neal was from January, just after JSS was announced...
So Ross, Jonathan and yourself weren't asked to be involved with [the reissues], or the Houston DVD?
NEAL: "We're busy playing while he's busy re-releasing everything we've ever done" (laughs). "We spent seven months of last year on tour."
Do you think that's him still looking back whilst you're looking forward?
NEAL: "I guess so – I don't know what I'm really saying" (laughs), "but we're playing live and making new records and he's recreating the past. I think in a sense he's going "Remember me, remember me?" It's not like anyone's going to forget about him, but if that's what he wants to do – keep repackaging and re-releasing old stuff instead of new stuff – I guess that's what he wants to do, you'd have to talk to him about that."
Well, I guess if that's what Journey wants to do...
...keep finding guys who can recreate singing the old stuff instead of using a fresh new guy for new stuff...
That was a cheap fucking shot if I ever heard one. He could have answered the question without that shit.
Hey, Neal, all that recreating of the past must look nice in your bank account, you douche.
What he should have said was, "We're playing live and making new records, and he's recreating the past, and it made a lot of money so in 5 months we're firing our singer so we can hire a carbon copy and we can recreate the past too, instead of letting a perfectly good singer help us do something NEW."

The two highlighted sentence parts you quoted from Neal seem pretty true to me. I don't find them to be "cheap shots" nor do they seem vindictive. Merely Neal answering the questions with truthfulness.

The 2004 edition of the Rolling Stone Album Guide presented a critical view of the band, calling Journey the perfect karaoke act...
After a five year absence, Journey returned to the charts with Arrival, their eleventh studio album, in April, 2001. It featured the hits "All The Way" and "Higher Place", and was the first studio album to feature Augeri and Castronovo. The album only reached #56 on the charts, which didn't impress Columbia Records, so Journey was dropped from the label.
Journey sold 75 million albums with Perry. I don't know how many they've sold since he left, but I'd bet that it's under one million.
