Isn't there also a code that's been adhered to since the advent of sport that you don't try to embarress the other team and keep scoring as much as possible when the outcome has been decided?

If you can't stop the Pats 2nd and 3rd string O and D you should be embarrased. Christ they had Vrable running TE again just for fun at times...What are you supposed to do tell your players to take it easy. That's then ACL's and MCL's get blown out and bad injuried happen when folks take it easy.

No. That's why guys like Jimmy Johnson and Bill Belichick have won multiple championships. They create an aura of invincibility. Teams should be prepared to play 60 minutes of football when they step onto the field. End of discussion.

I have coached at the grade school and high school levels. Every sport from basketball to softball to baseball. I prepare my teams to try and destroy their opponents. There's nothing better than the other team looking across the field with that "Why are you doing this?" look in their eyes. My answer? Because of all of the hard work we put in the off season...the morning AND afternoon practices, the long hours in the weight room, the coaches meetings and the non-stop pursuit of perfection, mandates that we play the very best that we can for the ENTIRE game. The other team should try and do the same.

Brother SJ, I love you. Will you marry me!!!!! Finally someone that thinks like me.....We are in the second round of the Western PA playoffs hopefully headed to our third consectutive WPIAL Championship and title game at Heinz Field!!!!! Our goal is a the PA AAA State Title.

Hey, what was Roethlisberger doing in the game during the fourth quarter last night with his team stomping their half-ass opponents? Wasn't he injured earlier in the game? I guess they brought him back so they could "run up the score" right? I am waiting to hear the critics jump on the Steelers...(insert the sound of crickets chirping...)

Hey Schilling is back!! I'll take a 41 year old Schilling, who just went 3-0 in the playoffs, for $8 million over Clemens any day of the week. Even if he sucks he deserves the extra year after all he's done for this team. He did what a lot of great players couldn't. Next up Lowel and Francona.

If Schilling comes back to the team he formerly managed, The Phillies, I hope he leaves his bench coach Tito back at Fenway.

Yeah, because the Phillies have been so successful since getting rid of Francona! You hate all Boston teams, eh??? Honestly, with guys like Howard, Utley, and Rowand, the Phillies should be embarrassed with their PUTRID post-season performance!

Tito was and remains the worst bench coach in Phillies history.

Did NOTHING to help Schilling here, presumably did a better job w/ helping 38 call the shots in Beantown, though.

Larry Bowa managed friggin' CIRCLES around Schilling and Tito in 2001, taking the same team that finished in DEAD last the year before and taking the division race down to the last weekend. Oh and Bowa didn't have Schilling or Mike Lieberthal.

Francona is fraud.

NOPE... its all part of it... if a defense gives up....thats their problem!!!

Kinda like Kansas and Nebr, I hope big red fans arent crying about kansas running up the score last week. I mean...remember all those Nebraska teams from the 70s-90s getting 70 points on kansas every year???

Is it the fact that the Pats and the Sox are on top right now that has people questioning them or their organizations.. Fact is right now they are on top - Terry is a great manager - Belichick is a fantastic coach.. perfect? no.. But to say they really suck when the Sox just won the world series and the Pats are 9-0 .. a little silly, no? :)

It's called sour grapes! I wouldn't expect any less from a Philly fan. Afterall, these are the same ornery fucks who booed Santa Claus! The reality is that when I was growing up, the Patriots when 2-14 most seasons, and we were ALWAYS having the score "run up" on us, so I don't feel even remotely badly for all these wussy cry-baby losers! This is our time to steamroll everyone's ass they roll out against us each week, and I'm going to enjoy EVERY freakin' minute of it!!!! You have my condolences that the Eagles are a complete embarrassment of a team and McNabb is DREADFUL! I hope your team has fun watching the playoffs on tv!

p.s. I just talked to all of my Boston neighbors, and they told me to deliver a message to all of you whiners...KISS OUR ASS!

Contrary to Boston belief the world doesn't revolve around or have to care about Boston sports.

You're the only fan base who since 2004 has to incessantly remind people "HEY! WE THINK WE'RE THE BEST!!"

There is NO big deal with running up scores in games in any sport at any level. If your team is that pitiful that they're being made bitches by the opponent then, sorry, try not to suck so much!! You're going out there with one objective: WIN. Whether you win by 1 point or 50, no difference. It is not disrespectful to run up the board. What is disrespectful, however, is the losing team that didn't bust ass hard enough or prepare long enough. There's nothing lamer than the embarassment of losing. My sophomore year our football team went 7-3, decent considering our district that season. The next year we went 0-10, so my senior year we were going undefeated into our Homecoming game against our rivals who ran the score up on us the year before. That night we had put them in their places by halftime to the tune of 33-0, and to retaliate they started stabbing my boys in the eyes during tackles. (I got so mad that night that I had a flag thrown on me, which our fullback took the heat for it to keep me from getting my ass chewed.) Long story short, I told the boys throughout the night to just keep embarassing them, they deserved it. Retaliation.

We went on to win that night 52-0 and I got the gatorade bath. Greatest Friday night ever. Wow, I miss those sidelines...

RUN UP THE SCORE WHENEVER POSSIBLE.

Yeah...that's it! We're awful losers. You should study your history, before making such dopey statements! I'm pretty sure that the numbers say otherwise.

There are only three teams in the history of the NFL who have won more Super Bowls than the Patriots (The 49'ers, Steelers, and Cowboys). Only two teams have more World Series wins than the Red Sox (The Yankees and Cardinals), even if the Red Sox won 5 of them before 1920...it doesn't change their place in history! Also, I'm quite sure that in spite of their recent futility , NO team has won more NBA Championships than the Boston Celtics!

Hey...old senile man....In spite of your constant crying about our succcess, I can assure you that we could care less whether or not non-Bostonians care about our sports teams! That doesn't matter to us, even a little, and NEVER has! Also, I can assure you as someone who has had to deal with obnoxious Yankees fans my entire life, that we are DEFINITELY NOT even close to the only fans who have to tell anyone we're the best. Thankfully, these days, Yankees fans have finally shut their pie holes, and seem to be a bit difficult to find these days! As far as being "The Best"...All I can say is that for 2007, we certainly are the best in baseball, and as of this date, in the NFL. Oh, and don't look now, but the Celtics may actually be a force to be reckoned with this season!

I guess that's somewhat debateable. For me, the voice of Boston was tragically silenced when Brad Delp ended his life.

Yep, the worst.

Never has a bunch been more insufferably pompous and obnoxious in their teams' successes than the Bosox and Belicheat fans.

Not sure about Celts and Bruins fans, lot of good tradition there w/out the superiority complex of the aforementioned baseball and football fans.

You are beyond delusional if you seriously think the Cowboys have any shot of beating the Patriots in or out of a Super Bowl. Wade Philips is a complete jackass, and Dallas will never win anything, with him steering the ship. The guy has the IQ of a rock. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if either the Packers or Giants beat the Cowboys. As for Witten...he's a very good player, and probably the best player on the entire Cowboys team. That said, I think there are several tight ends in football who are every bit as good as Witten, if not better. Antonio Gates, Kellen Winslow Jr. and Dallas Clark all come to mind! As far as a Cowboys fan hating our coach...that's par for the course. I've always despised the Cowboys and would smack the shit out of both Jimmy Johnson and his aqua net hairdue along with that pompous ass Jerry (I think I'm the coach) Jones!
