Loverboy - Just Getting Started

Postby RedWingFan » Thu Nov 08, 2007 7:50 am

This cd just came out and it's great! 10 songs pretty much alternate between uptempo and a little more ballad type song.
Every song has a great hook though. Loved it from the first listen. Only available in Walmart's here in the states.
$8.98, can't beat it. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. :D

Cool. Yeah I forgot to mention that. Please let me know what you think. My personal favorite is, "As Good As It Gets".

I enjoyed it. Was great to hear them do something again. They really brought back the old formula. That's what all of these classic rock acts need to do.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I really was pleasantly surprised when I heard it as well. Probably, the best cd from any of the classic rock acts to be released. It's definitely something to fill the gap until the next Augeri, Soto or Tony Harnell cd is released.

I think this album is great. Right now I am really enjoying the title track and The One That Got Away. Really good album all the way through though.

I wasted well over an hour today between 2 Wal Marts trying to pick it up today, only to find they didn't have it. The store computer which supposedly is linked directly to Wal Mart's website didn't have any record of it at all, though I was able to pull it up on my cell phone from WalMart.com -- I even gave the guy the UPS code, and it didn't show up in his system. WalMart.com says 11/6 was the release date, and I can't find it here! Has anyone else had better luck at Wal Mart finding this disc, or should I just order from Amazon or something?

Sorry about your luck RR. I had my wife pick me up a copy here at a local Walmart with no problem. I imagine you could go into the Walmart and order it so you don't have to pay shipping and handling.

Wal-Mart sucks.
The only good purpose it has served was to play a game of "capture the panties" during New Student Orientation week in college. And maybe to put on halloween masks and hijack the kid's bikes to go speeding down the shampoo aisle screaming "ANARCHY!"

Um. I'm afraid I'm going to need further explanation on this. And seeing how it's taking my Loverboy thread off topic, it better be good!!!! :D
Andrew, you heard this new cd yet? Any quick thoughts????

Fair enough. My senior year I was on the NSO committee, and keep in mind my school was Presbyterian (funded by Mr. Billy Graham himself). There wasn't anything at all to do for fun around Montreat or Black Mountain, so on a spur of the moment idea we decided to take the school vans with all the freshmen to Asheville. We had a way of playing capture the flag that we usually did in Wal-Mart at 3am when we had been drinking all night... right before we went to Denny's or IHOP.

We got to Wal-Mart, divided up into two teams, and then realized that we didn't have flags with us.

So one of the other NSO leaders shouts up, "Hey, Dani (thats what I went by in HS and college) and Faith, give us your panties... they'll be our flags." Faith suggested we use ones in the store, but Grant said no because it'd look like we were shoplifting. Good point. ANYHOW... yeah... we played capture the flag with panties. No further comments on that.

Later that night the NSO leaders (all 10 of us) broke into Gaither Chapel and played sardines (a variation of hide and go seek) until we were busted by the cops. And that was the tamest night I ever had there, too.

Sounds like fun! Anyway back on topic, next time you're playing with your panties in Walmart, pick up this CD. :D

I just picked it up. Pretty good stuff thanks for the info! But I have a question if anyone knows this I would appreciate it. It says that you can go to a website and download an additional track and booklet with lyrics. When I get there it asks me for a CD Key. Well I can't find one anywhere. lol... Did mine not come with one? If anyone found this and could tell me where to find it if I even have one I would be grateful!

Thanks!

I had the same problem. On their website I clicked on "contact us" and asked them about it. They said the company that's handling the downloads is having issues with the amount of traffic. They sent me an email with the bonus track attached. They got back with me after only a couple of hours. Email them and they should hook you up! :D

I'll keep trying here, and thanks for the help. I would order it from the website but it says "NOT SOLD ONLINE":

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=7975877

Now check this -- if I go thru the regular WalMart.com website to get to it, it doesn't appear at all, but I got the above link thru a Google search. I guess I'm just going to have to call stores until I find one.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I've been really excited about this, and as I don't prefer spoilers, I haven't listened to many sound clips yet. Just want it to be a fresh out o' the box experience.

Hopefully soon! :P

Just checked it out this morning on Rhapsody. I have to admit, this is one of the best melodic rock releases in a long, long time. It just may be their best CD yet! Every song is quality and sounds inspired. The sad part is that it should receive lots of radio play but I'm sure it won't. It sounds so like their old sound but very fresh at the same time. Kinda like how Bon Jovi stayed relevant. The only bummer is that it is a pretty short CD. But then again, it made me want to listen to it right away again!

I really, really like this album. There were here in Texas last year and I got to sit thru their soundcheck and hear two new songs being rehearsed. The last time I saw the guys was when they opened for Kansas on their second American date in Amarillo, Tx, 1981 (I think '81!).

I know, it's tough to compare something current to 25 years ago, but I think this may be their most solid release.

I've wondered if I'm one the only people who liked "Loverboy VI" -- the song "Tortured" was one of my favorites. Unfortunately now I can't remember much else about the disc. Does anyone else besides me like the album?

There were a couple of songs I liked, "Big Picture" was pretty good and "Hair of the Dog" was okay. This new cd blows that one out of the water.

I got lucky (no pun intended) and found one at a Wal Mart out of town today. They actually had three on the shelf, and for the price I considered buying all of them so my wife could steal, lose or scratch two of them and I'd still be in good shape... :P

Just started listening to it -- on song #2 now, and love it so far!

I tried to give it a quick listen all the way thru, but after that I returned to track 1 and am stuck there for a few more listens. It's just classic Loverboy, back in fine form, and it feels so familiar from the opening vocals. Awesome track! I think it's going to be one of these discs that as I listen to it more, different tracks will begin to jump out and grab me. I'm sure I'm going to love this disc.
