Am I the only one getting sick of this song?

Too many places, too many versions...

HELL NO- This song has been PLAYED TO DEATH! At this point, probably one of my least favorite Journey songs by far! It and about 3 more of the so-called "dirty dozen" should be BURIED!

I'd like if they used JUST the opening as they come on stage...and then go into something else

Many might argue that the best version was Perry's onfield interview after that world series game. Although just a few lines, it was our first time to hear him live in years...maybe it was our last time too.

Lights has Juan Del Castillo, and he brings soul to it like Perry did IMO. They actually have a much better version of DSB than the one posted here on their myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/lightstribute

You can't argue with success and DSB has the inspiration that is so necessary to many........"Don't Stop"........

Believing
Hoping
Trying
Waiting

"It goes on and on and on........"

They wrote a unique and perfect song, imo.

I like Jeremey's version too, but I have to agree with you on this. I like the stuff I've seen/heard from them so far. Will definately try to check it out next time I'm visiting Cali.

So true Hots. I know that when I listen to DSB, it helps lift me up in my personal struggles in life. :)

Juan and Jeremey stand head and shoulders above the rest, though they're all pretty good.

PS Neal Schon could sit on a curb and his feet wouldn't touch the street. Just a bit of useless trivia.

A tough decision for me. Lights has the best vocalist, Frontiers and Evolution tied for second place on vocals. Evolution has the best band. None of the others are as good.

LIGHTS by a hair...

Postby Vocalsmanvocals » Sat Nov 10, 2007 2:52 am

Juan from Lights alomst sounds identical to Perry from the original recording...that is tough to beat.

Frontiers...a close 2nd.

I agree with Andrew, the resurgence of the song has kind of buried some of Journey's better music, and the exposure of that song in pop culture over the past couple years may be steering Journey into "one hit wonderland" in the eyes of some of the younger generation. However, LOTS of kids hear that song and go out and buy the CDs after that, and some even go to tribute concerts, so I guess the song's popularity does in a way open up people to their other tunes.

BTW, I have a much better version of that song also, posted over at the annex. Maybe someday I'll get the OK to YouTube it!

Ditto, Lights was great, but Frontiers owns it.

This one should have been included. If you can sort through the shitty sound and the mediocre band playing, the vocals are stunning.

Great performance by Jeremey but the guitarist was terrible in that tune.

God I hate excuses, but Barry absolutely was suffering from terrible tendonitis that weekend. he ended up getting therapy and a shot for it. had to post it just for the novelty of it though.
