You know what I think?

I think I've heard enough renditions of Faithfully by enough singers with Journey. To hear yet another version of Faithfully as the same, or as close as to same it was originally done by Perry himself is not what I'm looking for in Journey any longer. I'm so past that. I guess that is a big part of what so many don't understand.

JSS stood out alone as an individual and wasn't a Perry sound alike. There seemed to be so many possibilities with Jeff. Now, Journey is on the march again to sound like Perry. Those of you who are into that, I say have fun. Myself? The way it's going, it seems to me that they can't let go of those "tails."

Awright T-Bone. Understood, but you know there's been some great clips I never would've found or think to find.

I say, let the linking continue and I'll just ignore whateverthehelIdon'twannasee.

I like it, he sounds enough like perry to make it acceptable to the masses but puts enough of his own spin on it to sound different. Like JSS did, they both have the vocal range, JSS's voice seemed a little "darker" AP seems a bit "lighter", by far neither is a perry clone, and that's a good thing. ;)

What the hell words was he singing at the end?

Most were unrecognizable to me...not bringing "race" into this at all...just diction.

Sounds weird/odd/awkward.

Rehire JSS.

I agree, rehire JSS.
I don't believe Cain ever wanted JSS singing Open Arms and Faithfully, in spite of the reasoning we were given, Deen never sang the two biggest ballads when SA was in the band...well, once...However, JSS's work on Winds of Freedom and Coming Home proved he was capable of "sonically" handling the Journey ballad.

Agree, and knowing what we know of JSS, he was fine with and couldn't give 2 shits about that was happy to take the blow and have DC do those. I guess the reasoning was that those 2 songs above all were literally married to that Perryesque voc, being around as long as he has JSS was humble enough not to care not to be singing those every night.

Pineda singing in English calls to mind the painstakingly careful, overly self-conscious speech of a drunk trying to feign sobriety.

You can tell it's forced and the flaws come through anyway.

If Julio Iglesias could make a name for himself, maybe Arnel can also. Can't blame him for trying!

I like that idea - I link to You Tube from here often; people really post some gems I've never seen or heard or wouldn't know to look up! Nightwish's "Nemo" is one example!

For the love of god...Can we stop with the JSS rants already..There is a forum for JSS..Why don't you use that one.. He's a good singer, but he's not right for Journey.. He doesn't have the soaring tenor that they are looking for.. What if Arnel sang Something to Hide in concert..Wouldn't the doubters crap themselves? :)

You think so?

Personally, I prefer this to Deen's or Augeri's performances, as well as many of JSS's shrieks. I don't think he did too great on the ballads. You want JSS kicking ass on a Journey song? "Edge of the Blade" = perfect. Even the most obtuse Def Leppard fan rocked out to Journey then. 8)

Agreed. JSS rocks, but on a entirely different level! The "soaring tenor" statement is correct. :) I'm still a tad concerned about some of those high notes from AP, a little pushing it. ;)

JSS was part of Journey and should still be in Journey. Discussion here of his work is more than welcome.

Yeah, you weren't here when JSS was in Journey. He'd stop in and visit with us. Was great. I thought he did an excellent job for them.

LOL, another stupid ass comes waddling through the gates and into my sights.

Jeff has a higher voice than SA or Deen so you can put your JSS isn't right for Journey crap to bed. Better yet, roll it up and shove it up your asshole. JSS can sing anything. Rock, Metal, Soul, disco, anything. The guy isn't even human..he is a chameleon.

I think Arnel is awesome, but he isn't JSS.

Soto kicked ass on "Edge of the Blade"! :D Ah, memories. Or should I say "memory" - only got to see him once with Journey.

I will, however, kindly take exception to the idea of JSS' shrieking!

I don't want a flame war to result from this, yet I don't regard this to be factual. That said, I'm willing to be convinced. Do you have any way to substantiate or prove this? I find it to be a very tall claim without much merit. I'll happily concede the point, but I have heard nothing from JSS that suggests that he has a "higher voice" than SA's or Deen's. Certainly a stronger voice. But higher? Perhaps you're confusing his falsetto screams to actually singing tenor.

This board just exudes class ! So let me get this straight.. JSS used to come on the boards..Yes I saw that.. Is JSS a great guy, once again,yes.. Ok,so some of you have seen him in concert or met him in person.. So your a JSS fan now..Sweet ! I suppose if I met Brittany Spears in person,I would all of the sudden be a huge fan and she should be the one fronting Journey.. Oh,ya and because Jeremy is the greatest Journey are a bunch of asshole's for not picking him..He writes on the board also.. STFU ! Pathetic..another pathetic statement... Jeff has a higher voice than SA or Deen so you can put your JSS isn't right for Journey crap to bed. Once again, your man crush is almost as bad as John Madden's is with Brett Favre... So let me get this straight,JSS can singer higher notes than Deen.. LMFAO ! and STFU ! You sound like a little girl with a crush on Duran Duran, except yours is a man crush on JSS.. I believe he has his own board.. Oh and for the record, what kind of a classy person says this to someone..? another stupid ass comes waddling through the gates and into my sights. I don't need to call someone vulgar names to make my point.. I have my opinion and you have yours,I did not attack yours!
