time for a fresh, new thread on something different. what are the top 10 favorite vocalists in your opinion male or female, any era, any type of music.

Damn Jeremey, how could I forget Tony Lewis?? Absolutely one of the most unique voices in rock!!! I love The Outfield. Did you catch the last CD, Anytime now? Decent CD!

Yes, it was a good CD, glad to have gotten some new material out of the guys. I'm hoping we hear more from them in the next year now that John Spinks is in good health again!

Glad to hear Spinks is doing better as well. I heard he was doing pretty rough there for a while. I dont know if you know a rock band based in Atlanta named "5 Star Iris" but the lead vocalist, Alan Schaefer knows him and gave me the scoop at one of their gigs in Auburn, Alabama a short time back. I know now why they didnt/couldnt tour to support the CD.

Ooh...Forgot about that guy. Great singer. I used to have all three of their studio albums. The debut and "Last Train" were great but I didn't care much for "Promise Man". Seemed to be too much of an attempt to capitalize on the grunge movement. Unfortunately, I don't have those albums any longer. Great stuff, though, for the most part.

Did you ever get "H5 Encore", the live disc featuring both Steve and Eric Wayne? It's well worth having.

2. Steve Perry (Superb tone, original sound, emotion)

6. Dan Huff (For first Giant CD)

Yeah, I guess one assumes the 'rock' genre was intended but the overall talent net is huge - The King indeed was something special. I'd have to stick Lennon & McCartney in there, a) for such a prolific high standard of writing and b) their vocals always complimented each other so well, particularly on the earlier stuff and have a very distinctive sound to them.

BA is a phenominal singer, but he doesn't have a voice like those I listed. Singing and voice is different, right? You should make a list of entertainers...now that would be a cool list.

I noticed when I heard the latest CD, he sounds almost identical to the vocals on 'Wildside' almost 20 years ago - no mean feat

I was planning to say that, but I didn't because you can't be a female Perry fan and say that without people rolling their eyes at you and thinking/saying you only like it because Perry does. I knew who Sam Cooke was before I knew jack shit about Perry, though, that's for sure.

Before I knew who Sam Cooke OR Steve Perry was, I first heard that material from The Spinner's version of Cupid. Absolutely amazing! Yeah, it was dated and a little disco sounding, but Jonathan Edwards nailed that song dead on, and the last notes on that refrain were amazing. Speaking of The Spinnners....What a great vocal band!! Damn, now I want to hear some more Spinners.
